Affordable silk rose petals?

My bridesmaids and I decided to take on the task of making petal isle runners for the ceremony. I am going to need a good amount of silk rose petals. Does anyone know off hand of a site w/affordable prices?

Re: Affordable silk rose petals?

  • I bought mine at www.petalgarden.com

They have a thing on there to estimate how many you need and if you are going with classic colors, often times large quantities are on sale.
  • I got silk petals for my flower girls at Michael's.  They come in several colors and different size boxes.

  • I've seen them at Michaels and dollar stores.  If you're walking on them they don't need to be super high quality.

That being said, I am not a fan of aisle runners - they seem to be involved in a lot of tripping down the aisle, getting dirty, blowing away, and just being a nuisance.  Also they require a huge amount of work to make!

Have you considered just throwing petals (real ones) down your aisle (assuming it is outside)?  People would be less likely to trip and it would be safer and way easier.

You can buy bulk freeze-dried petals here:  http://www.ecoparti.com/frdrrope.html
  • LaughingNaomikb, our ceremony will be inside. Our venue requires immediate clean up after the ceremony. So in hopes of keeping it simple we are doing 2 -9in wide petal isle runners on each side. Nothing down the isle, to save tripping and the hassle that I have seen at previous weddings. I had also heard from other brides that with real petal  in the color Lapis or Eggplant stained their dress at the bottom?

    thanks everyone for the input!
  • I got mine at Hobby Lobby.  I waited until their wedding section was 50% off and I got them for just a few dollars.
