FI and I have planned our wedding for October 9 of this year. It is an outdoor, back yard garden wedding at my parent's home in NC. The brides maids and MOHs are giong to be wearing this dress in "serene":

My dress is somewhat elaborate, my grandmother is making it (I can't find a picture because the pattern is discontinued), but everything else is going to be REALLY simple.
FI and I are wanting to keep our budget as low as possible (under $1500) and because of that, have considered having the groom and his attendants wear khakis, brown shoes, long sleeved white shirts and brown ties.
My roommate says that khaki is spring-ish, and the attendants should wear brown suits. But the thing is, all of his attendants will still be in college and they're already driving 3 1/2 hours to get to the wedding, so I don't want to ask too much of them by asking them to purchase/rent suits.
So my question is: for my fall wedding, is khaki tacky?
