Affordable Wedding Party Gifts

I say "affordable" because I hate to use the word "cheap".  My fiance and I are paying for our wedding ourselves and the budget is pretty tight. I want to give my bridesmaids something nice and not too expensive but I don't want it to look cheap. My original idea is a personalized necklace or bracelet but those really add up!! Ideas?

Shop for the girls like it's Christmas or their birthday. What things do they like? Unless each girl normally wears necklaces with her name on it, I would not buy it for her. Gifts don't have to match at all. It's possible you buy something totally different for each BM. I'd just try to keep each gift around the same price as the others.

Honestly, if you're on a tight budget, I would much rather have a nice handwritten note than any sort of inexpensive "gift".

A budget bride friend of mine wrote a lovely note and gifted an off-brand clutch purse. The clutch goes in my Goodwill donation box, the note I will cherish.

I say a nice handwritten note and something that you would give them for a birthday or Christmas. If you are comfortable with DIY projects, maybe that's an option. Pinterest has some awesome ideas for DIY gifts (spa treatments, bags, etc...), but I only suggest this if that's the kind of stuff they like!

I will say, please do NOT buy anything that says "Bridesmaid." I have a cute quilted black clutch that I will never use because it has Maid of Honor on the side.

If you want to get necklaces for your girls because they wear them, go on etsy.com.  I got each of my girls their own pendant necklace to fit their individual style.  These also were not gifts for them to wear at the wedding.  I got the pendants on esty and then the chains on ebay.  Just make sure when you buy the chains that you buy from an American dealer.  There are different standards for metals outside of the US.

I'm budgeting about $30 for each BM's gift. My plans are:

    1. Nice earrings from etsy that fits with the wedding color (costs about $20 to $25)
    2. DIY mug (http://www.savvysugar.com/Sharpie-Mug-DIY-Project-24955886) with either their initial or something cute (costs about $1-$5 depending on the mug)
    3. Nice little note on a DIY notecard.

    Done! =)

Is your wedding color also each of their favorite color?

No, choose something that they would enjoy. It's a gift for them, not an accesory for your wedding. If they're required to wear it, it isn't a gift.

Necklaces, purses, bags, tote bags, a little kit like flip flops and a robe, slippers, earrings, maybe pay for their hair or make up for the wedding as the gift, or take them all out to get pedicures or nails done the week of.  Water bottles with their names on them, maybe a baggie with a movie ticket, lottery ticket, lip stuff from Sephora?
