tattoos and piercing

Hi! My name is Meagan, and I'm currently looking for wedding appropriate jewelry.  I have stretched lobes as well as a few extra piercings (which I plan on removing) as well as a tattoo (that I'd like to cover), but am currently having a hard time finding a nice, stunning pair of gauged (enlarged) earrings.
Is anyone else in this situation, and if so, have you managed to find a pair of earrings?
Thank you all for your time,
Meagan.

  • I also have stretched lobes and tattoos. I looked around for earrings I liked and ultimately decided to just wear normal earrings as my lobes are only stretched a few gauges above the norm. Before I decided on this I did a lot of looking on Etsy. There isn't a huge number of options but you could always do an alchemy request. That's where you post the style of earring you are wanting made and and the price you are wanting to spend and people send you bids with ideas and prices for what they can make for you.

As for my tattoos, it's totally your choice but I believe they are as much a part of me as the color of my eyes, so why cover them? I guess I'm just saying that you should be true to yourself and your style.

just curious, but if you have tattoos and piercings isn't that a part of who you are?

Why do you want to cover them?

I have two tattoos (wish I had more), and one eyebrow piercing. I'm not covering anything for the wedding, although the only one that will be visible is the eyebrow piercing.

I'm just curious on peoples thoughts.

  • what size do you need? and what style are you looking for?

i agree though that you shouldn't cover your tats. they are part of you and be proud of them! none of mine will be visable but even if they were i wouldn't cover them........
  • Look into gauges in natural stones. You could go with opal for white. Or you could try to match the wedding colors. Natural flourite gauges are beautiful.

http://www.evolvejewelry.com has some nice stuff. They even have some gem cut plugs, so it would look more like just wearing a large stud. They have white quartz,  and some other colors too.
  • hey I have a tattoo that sort of moved after a surgery and I would like to cover it up. I have bought the Kat von deen tattoo cover up and if you can match it to your skin with a matte finishing powder, you will be pretty good to go. Also higher end spa's that carry make up lines also have tattoo type cover ups and they will match your skin tone.

Anyhow just a couple of options : )
  • Hi everyone!  Thank you for all your replies.
My gauge size is 4, and as far as my tattoos go, I completely agree that they are an intergral part of who I am.  The reasons why I am covering the one up are the following:
    1) my fiance's family is very traditional and conservative, and it may seem egocentrical of me to say, but his grandfather is a patented polymer chemist who's support may come in handy for my carreer.
    2) before meeting my fiance, I was raped.  I got the tattoo the same day I started dating my rapist, and I want to get it removed eventually.  But being a student really does restrict my options financially.

  • Your reasons for wanting to cover them are very valid and I think everyone here will agree with your decision. Good luck in saving the money to one day have them removed.

As for your tattoos, where are they?  Tattoo makeup is unreliable (Angelina Jolie always has a staffer on set dedicated to touching hers up between takes), but if they're all on your arms or back, you might be able to get a nice bolero or shrug to hide them.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • we're having a pretty traditional wedding. My ears are at 5/16 inch and i'm wearing tunnels with earrings put in between the tunnel and my earlobe. I'm covering the huge tattoo on my back with makeup. I love my tattoo but I'm going classy for the day Wink

  • I find it is innapropriate and for a bride to show off her ink, and my tattoos are meant to be private.
