CONFESSIONS/VENT WEDNESDAY

Anything you need to get off your chest? Do it here.

Re: CONFESSIONS/VENT WEDNESDAY

  • edited December 2011
    I have a few things:

Vent:  I will never, ever, EVER be a part of another wedding.  For whatever reason, I ALWAYS end up getting screwed and end up having to plan the shower and b-party myself.  I usually always get stiffed for payment by at least one girl too.  My best friend's wedding (3 weeks after mine) has taken the cake.  Her girls all suck.  Seriously SUCK!  Worst part?  Two of them are my good friends and I'm ready to punch them in the face when I see them at my wedding.

Vent:  FI seriously pissed me off this morning by being a total d*ckhead.  I forgot that when you screw up, it means you're allowed to yell at me like it's MY fault.  And he wonders why I left this morning hopping f-ing mad.

Vent:  If you tell my you're coming to my wedding is it really THAT DAMN HARD to also tell me if you're bringing a guest and what you want to eat???????  Apparently.  So, now I don't care anymore -- you get what I pick for you, and if you bring someone, you'll have to share your meal with her.  Seriously, have the common courtesy to just answer.  If I could, I'd uninvite you from the wedding.

Confession:  I'm SO over this wedding.  I'm SO over my best friends wedding.  I can't wait for the next 17 days to just fly by so I can enjoy getting married and being married to my FI.  Wait, scratch that, I can't wait until June 19th, when I'm done with my best friend's b-party and wedding, so I don't have to communicate with her stupid bridesmaids EVER again.

Vent:  I understand that you are flying into town for my wedding.  I appreciate that.  BUT, the world does not revolve around YOU landing at the airport.  I already have 8 other stops at the airport the SAME day AND I have to pick up the handicapped van an hour away for FI's mom.  So, don't complain that I might have to send someone else to pick you up.  It's not the end of the world -- seriously.

Sorry...it's been one of those weeks already.  Thanks for the vent --- I really needed that.

Some people on craigslist SUCK! Yesterday some a-hole said he was going to buy my motorcycle. So I rushed home from work, got my paperwork out, then called him to let him know that I was home and he could come and get it. No answer, WTF? This guy called me twice during the day AND sent me an email. Said he was going to get cash out of the bank and come get it immediately. Don't get my f-ing hopes up and then not follow through. You suck!!

As much as I love my best friend of 11 years/MOH....we are not meant to live together.  She was here staying with me for a week to keep me company while FI is gone. The biggest issue: how are you going to get annoyed with me when I get up to get ready for work and accidently wake you up at 9AM, when we went to bed at midnight??? And, I know you will not move from the couch the whole 5 hours I am gone, so why the big fuss??  And then you have to be complaining about how tired you are ALL DAY.  Honestly?

Vent...I am NOT doing well at controlling what I eat. I am trying to make a few simple changes as well as starting to work out more effectively and I can't stop eating after 10 pm. It's like I eat super early, try to eat the right things, and then go CRAZY. I don't understand why I can't stop. I'm not a big girl I just have a couple of inches to lose off of my tummy and I'll be toned, but for some reason, I have no discipline! I'm so disappointed in myself!

Vent: My sister (MOH) has taken entirely too long to get my shower invites out!  My shower is June 13th (the height of graduation party season) and you have yet to produce and/or mail the invites when the RSVP is May 30th (venue request).  And I've been prodding and reminding her since the third week of April!  She says, "well what am I supposed to do about it now"....how about GET THEM DONE!!!  Otherwise, she's a fantastic MOH and sister and I'm really surprised at her actions right now.  She's usually much more on the ball than this...

Vent: (lame, I know). I wish my company would have clients in cool places like Chicago, NY, Boston, some BIG TOWNS. Instead, in recent years I've been to Joplin MO, Rogers AR, Omaha NE, Manitowoc WI. Next week I'll be in Joplin MO again, this time for an exciting 2 1/2 days! Sheesh.

Vent: I wish someone would make a keyboard that doesn't get "stuck" when you work at home, eat at your desk, and tiny crumbs fall into it. I'm on my 3rd keyboard in a year, and I am just waiting for it to start to fail..........I take them apart & clean them out, but still does't do any good. I'm thinking my employer will get tired of reimbursing me for these soon.

Confession: I spend WAY TOO much time on the Knot for my own good during the day.

Melanie & Jody, sorry for your troubles.

Vent - after my MOH went missing for a few days and was on a drug binge for a week she can't even call me! She would rather talk to some guy that is MARRIED and avoid me because she knows I'll have nothing nice to say. The thing is, the longer she waits to call me the more pissed I get. How can you act like that to one of your best friends that always has your best interest in mind? She is completely dilusional in my mind. Ohh and doing drugs for a week straight, not going to work and going missing doesn't mean she has a drug problem. She was just trying to lose weight for a wedding she is in on the 22nd. Okay, like anyone is going to believe that. Losing weight has nothing to do with your job, friends and family. Total BS!!!!!!!!

Mel- I am feeling a lot of what you're going through right now...."date twin" intuition i guess! 17 days to go!!

Vent: Don't rsvp you are bringing a date, and then proceed to tell me you don't know your dates name. WTF WTF WTF!!!! We are not paying $100+ for a date you don't even have yet!!! And who knows if you two will even show up!!!

More Vent. I need your RSVP like yesterday!!!! I gave you plenty of effing time!!!!

More Vent: Brother, get measured for your tux!! RIGHT NOW!

More Vent: Belly ache please go away. I have things to do today.

Confession: Okay I'm really sorry about this one: But please, when is the Mermaid style wedding gown just gonna go away.

Vent: I am having an absolute nightmare with our hotel (Courtyard Brighton) that we selected for our room block... My complaints are over 3 pages long typed... basically my guests are calling to make reservations and not one person has been able to make a simple reservation with one call, INCLUDING MYSELF!  Basically the person on the other end of the phone is telling my guests that not only is my room block sold out for the night, but also the hotel is sold out as well... Multiple phone calls have been made to the sales manager, at the time I knew for a fact that only 7 rooms had been booked, 2 of them being my rooms (hm maybe because they have been turning my guests away!?!?) and I have 20 rooms reserved... then I find out that there are over 30 rooms in their general inventory still available and yet they are still turning my guests away.

I get multiple phone calls from friends and family members on a daily basis trying to deal with the hotel drama... and aside from getting their credit card numbers and calling them all in myself between normal business hours when my sales manager is there... It's insane.  There is always an excuse, a glitch in the computer, a misunderstanding, something... and I'm just sick of it.  I'm sure for as many phone calls as I get of people asking me what to do there are just as many people that are being told the hotel is sold out and just letting it be that and not pursuing it further, and not notifying me about it.

To make matters worse I have made multiple phone calls to the hotel's manager and she refuses to return my calls, which just means I'm going to have to mail this complaint letter to someone higher up than her.

This hotel has been nothing but a nightmare from the beginning and if I had the ability to take everyone out of that hotel and put them in a new hotel, I'd do it in a heartbeat.  That's how upset I am.
    ugh sorry end rant!

EJAY!!!  Oh my gosh!  I read your vent and I thought I was reading my own!

I'm using the Courtyard Livonia.  My "event coordinator" has to be the stupidest person on the face of the planet.  I too had guests calling every day because they were unable to book rooms because my "block was sold out."  But, not to worry, they could book by guests a room at double the rate.  This first started happening after ONE room had been booked.  Only 1 out of my 35.  Then I tried to book MYSELF a room, and they told me my block was booked.  You've got to be f-ing kidding me.  Every damn day was me calling and throwing a fit because they were unable to do their job correctly.

The straw that broke the camel's back came last week.  I signed the contract for the block last July, and at the time made it VERY clear that the shuttle included in my contract HAD to be handicap accessable (FI's mom is in a wheelchair).  At the time, there was no problem.  Last week, I get an e-mail from my "event coordinator" telling me I waited too long to tell her and that their one and only handicap accessible shuttle was already reserved.  I nearly lost my everloving mind.  So, I decided to call the hotel manager.  Luckily, I had MUCH better luck with him than you had with yours.  He said everything the woman has been telling me is wrong, and that he'll straighten it all out.  Two hours later he called back and it was all straightened out.

I'm also firing off a letter to Marriott corporate w/ all of my complaints about their service AND my appreciation of their one manager.

After hearing this from you, I'm going to tell EVERYONE not to book a wedding block at a Courtyard.  EVER.

OMG MEL!!!! Yes clearly something is wrong with these people!

I was on the phone with a reservation lady on sunday night trying to reserve a room and the lady told me they were sold out... I said no, I am the bride and I just spoke to my event manager on Friday and I know there were at least 9 rooms available, you need to fix the error code and keep going, I know there are rooms available.  She then had the nerve to say to me, "actually your block is overbooked by 2 rooms and there is no way I'm going to overbook it further... and if you spoke to your manager on Friday, why didn't you reserve the room then?" I went all bridezilla on her (my dad even clapped lol) and was like "Sorry I didn't have my friend's credit card to make a reservation, but I just happen to be on my way to my college graduation and had more important things to do than be on the phone with your shi**y hotel trying to make reservations for all 300 of my wedding guests" UGH I hate Marriott!!!

Oh Mel what is the name of your coordinator there?  I hope it's not the guy that used to be at my hotel... the one who booked my room block and tried charging my guests $10 more than the normal room rate, without breakfast, and used the same wedding code that he programed for another wedding! YES, we have two wedding parties booking under a code like "ABCD" UGH!

ok sorry for hijacking this post... but im seriously fired up!

    ok one more...

if I open up one more RSVP and see my #__ seats reserved in your honor crossed out with a larger number above it...  or if I see arrows of any shape or size directing me to the back side of the card where you have some special request... I will... Well I don't know what I will do... but it won't be good!

Well, I've gone thru 3 wedding coordinators.  One because she went on maternity leave, so I got passed on to #2, then 2 passed me on to #3 because she was going on vacation and I never got passed back.  So, I'm on #3, it's a girl named Tracy (I suppose it could be a guy since I do know a couple male Tracys).

Worst part is, I think it's just Courtyards.  I've NEVER had any trouble w/ other Marriotts, even with wedding blocks.
  • edited December 2011
Ohh boy. Our wedding is at The Dearborn Inn which is a Marriot hotel. I've had one person try to book a room (my FMIL) and they couldn't even find my wedding! I got it taken care of but I hope we don't have any problems once the invites go out. That sounds like a logistical nightmare.

OMG I'm in the same boat as you! Worst thing about it is that I work in retail and some days I have to close and I don't get home until 10pm. I'm forced to take my "dinner" at 4:15pm at the latest. WHO EATS DINNER AT 4PM!? I'm not 80! lol

I swear, it is impossible to lose any weight when you work retail. That is probably why I'm the skinniest one at my store and everyone else is pretty overweight :(

My vent: One of my bridesmaids STILL hasn't gotten her dress ordered when everyone else did the same day (beginning of april). She didn't show up to DB the day we all went and I live in CA now and I was only home for 4 days! I had another friend that came from Chicago to see us and she wasn't initially invited to the WP but I ended up inviting her the next day after we went to DB and as soon as she got back to chicago she ordered her dress! Why can't my other friend!? I'm starting to regret inviting her but we were best friends in preschool and she's been dating my cousin for over a year and he's in the wedding. Also, she gained like 25 lbs since I saw her last and insists shes going to lose weight (not that it even matters to me) but she told me she went to the Dr. because she gained so much so fast and doesn't understand why. MAYBE ITS BECAUSE SHE SITS AROUND EATING FAST FOOD WITH MY COUSIN AND PLAYS FINAL FANTASY COMPUTER BS ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!! DUH!

Should I give her a time limit to have her dress ordered and if she doesnt say just forget it? I mean we are even waiting to ask a 6th groomsman until we know for sure what her deal is. How bad is that? Also, the dress is a "test" dress and it takes 16 weeks to come in! When everyone else ordered theirs it said they'd be in around August. That was a month ago!

Oh yeah, ditto. I posted my same vent about this earlier. And also to my vegan friend, even having a vegetarian option, still has a "special meal request" on her RSVP card. Um, bring a ziploc of your special food then. Ugh.

Vent: I took my antique watch to the jeweler forever ago and wanted them to swap out the original band to a more bracelet style. I've been there 2x and saw the bands they ordered and all the samples are typical (ugly) watch bands. What part of "i want it more like a loose bracelet" style don't they get? You're a jeweler! Their solution: just use a pretty ribbon. Um, thanks. (otherwise, I really like them!)

Oh really?!? I hope thats the case!! This particular dress isn't on their website or anything so I don't know if it really will take that long or not. I hope not! Its just like I don' think people understand how much stress is already on us brides-to-be and they are just contributing to more unnecessary crap! lol
