help beach wedding with reception

I am looking for an economical beach wedding anywhere around Ft. Lauderdale to Miami.  It seems the best way is to find a venue where we can bring in our own catering.  Another option we were thinking is to do our own beach wedding and find a nearby restaurant for the reception.  We are traveling from Dallas so very hard to know what to do from this far away.  any help or direction at all would be very appreciated.  We are planning on the end of April 13.
Thanks again for any info on any economical options.  there will be about 50 people.

Re: help beach wedding with reception

  • Hi there, IMHO...you will probably be better off having your ceremony at the beach which the site fee will not be more than $300 (depending whether in Miami-Dade or Broward County) and finding a nice restaurant for the reception. You have many options (of the top of my head):
    - Red Fish Grill
    - The Chart House
    - The Anglers Resort (South Beach)

Also, if you really want to hire your own catering company and still want to be by the water then I would suggest Thalatta Estate. It's located in Pinecrest but it is a beautiful venue right on the bay. It has a really nice ceremony location right next to the bay so I can imagine pictures taken there will be breath-taking. The site for the ceremony is $300, I believe, and you can rent any other location for the reception. You can bring your own vendors. Another option is the Ronald Shane Center in Miami Beach. Many brides use it as a ceremony and reception location since it's right next to the water. You can bring your own vendors as well.

    Hope this helps!!! :)
  • I went with a beach ceremony and Angler's is actually our reception site :-)
