Hi everyone,

I am new to this wedding world . I just got engaged ... I am so looking forward to planning this thing.. Ugh !!! I think I am doing things backwards . I have a couple of apt's tomorrow and Friday . I am starting with Dj's ... Any suggestions ?

    Hi and welcome, Abby! Please tell us more about you, your wedding, etc.! :)

    I'm working with Jay Edwards for my dj and I love him! He would be a great person to talk to, and if you mention that you heard about him here, he'll give you $100 off.

    It would probably be a good idea to secure a date and venue quickly, as those can determine a lot of your other vendors! (My venue, for instance, only works with one caterer.)

    Hi Abby!

    welcome to the board---I agree with her-I think meeting with vendors isn't a horrible idea but you should really have a date first then the venue so that the other vendors can tell you if they're free or not on your date.

    Congrats and welcome to the board!  The ladies here are awesome and will definitely be able to help you through the process.  I agree with Alyssa and Alexis, you might want to work on a date and venue first.


    Which DJs do you have appointments with?

    Having a date first (which usually means also having a venue) is a good idea because it could save you the time of meeting with other vendors who are not available on your date.

    Other than that, have fun meeting with people!!

    Definitely choose your venue and date first, then you can talk to the dj, florist, photo, video ppl! It is a a lot but you will love every minute of it!

    Welcome and congrats!!!  My fiance and I are pretty new at this too, we got engaged in Feb.  I would definitely recommend looking at venues first, but I wouldn't be as worried about a definite date as finding a tentative one.  I told all the venues I met with that we had a tentative month, but were very flexible and asked what dates they had open around that time.  Also, keep in mind that many venues in the area offer discounts on Fridays or Sundays and also in the months of June, July, August and some even in January!  Having that information really helped me plan out when around I wanted to get married.

    Have a blast with all this, I can say that this has definitely been one of the most fun times of my life!!  =)  Being engaged is awesome!!!!  =)

    Welcome and congratulations! I agree that having the venue and date picked out first will make your life a lot easier, but it doesn't hurt to meet with other vendors first if you just want to get an idea of their personalities, or if that service is more of a priority than the date or venue to you.

    Good luck and feel free to ask questions- eveyone here is so helpful and you'll find a lot of good ideas and recommendations here.
