How much to budget for invitations?

How much did you budget for invitations? How much is too much in other words lol.
I was looking at the vendor list that my venue gave me and typed in the name of who they recommended for invitations and I believe it was starting at $12 a set and then we also would have to pay some cash for the customization.  To me this seems like a lot of cash for something that people are just going to throw in the garbage.

I have been looking on etsy at some cute invites, it a beach themed wedding and I think I'd probably need between 55-60 invites.

    The Knot's budgeter has a pretty good breakdown, if you plug in your guest list and total budget it will tell you the most you should be spending per invite.  I think $12/each is definitely on the high end, though; average seems to be $2-3/each.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    I'm sure it varies, but I know of one company in my area that makes really nice handmade invites, and they start around $3 and then go up from there. The super fancy ones with lots of add ons are more like $7-$8, but you can definitely still get nice ones on the lower side of the price range. :)

    I got mine on Etsy and they came out to around $5 an invite (before postage) but there are definitely cheaper ones.  I really love Etsy because you can get custom invitations for much less than retail.  You can also use the alchemy feature where you say what your budget is and sellers will bid for your business.

    I am having 2 receptions. Got one the first set that lists the ceremony and reception information on the invite for $212 including shipping for 100 invites from Jean M.

    Got another 100 for $70 from 123print.com

    One included a reply post card and the other included a reply card with envelope.

    Both included inner and outer envelopes.

    It really depends on what you are looking for with invitations. I am DIYing my invites and spending about a dollar each for each one. If you are looking to purchase ready-made invites, you are looking to pay $2-$3 each for simple panel invites and up depending on the amount of detail you are looking for.

    I found a design I like on Etsy and I am recreating it for half the cost. Mine will end up being about $2 per invite.

    Depends on what you are doing! FI and I are trying to cut costs, so our invites are a bit more simple. Also, instead of doing RSVP cards, we did reception cards with the information on our reception, with an email address included so guests can respond that way. May sound cheezy, but in the end, it saves a bunch on postage! We are going through vistapriint, and they have HUNDREDS of designs for a dollar an invite, so we spend about 100 dollars on 80 invites, and 80 reception cards.

    I also got a free sample kit from them that proves the quality of their items, they aren't just printer paper invites!
