Gotta, the hat is still in progress. It's a little larger than I hoped, and not quite the right color, but as I mentioned, I'm in the "Screw it, it'll be fine, get me a beer" phase of planning. Posted by aerinpegadrak
I think I'm already at about that phase and I still have 6 weeks to go.
My wedding band won't be here until right before the wedding due to a vendor going out of business but I have my e-ring so I'll just use that if it doesn't arrive in time. FI's band doesn't fit and will probably never fit again due to a finger injury and his preference for tungsten. It still fits his right ring finger, so whatever, he can use that for now and when his knuckle size stabilizes we can go shopping for a new band. Totally ditched the idea of petal fan programs that I've been envisioning for 2 years. The only other detail I have to possibly ditch are menus, but I have mockups so those can be edited and printed in an hour.
I think it's a much better mentality to have, personally. Like we had been planning on getting our rings engraved with "and they lived happily ever after," but we found out that the phrase wouldn't fit, so we went with just "happily ever after." FI asked if I was sure, and my response was that crying over it wasn't going to magically make the phrase fit.
I think a lot of brides end up freaking out when something that they can't change goes wrong, and give themselves a lot more stress than if they just went with it.
That kind of sucks that you have to ditch your cool programs, though. Can't you just throw money at the problem? Maybe hire a local graphic design student to make them for you or something.
Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
There's been freaking out, just mostly about guest list problems or conflict with family. At this point, the little things just don't matter.
I think happily ever after is a good compromise there. Since FI wanted tungsten I figured he'd need a new ring if his size changed, I just figured it would be a few years! But his finger is healing well and that's what's important.
Local graphic design student would be my MOH, who is currently getting burned out by her classes. If I suggest some awfully designed programs she might be willing to work on them... or maybe I'll get bored and do it. They would be super expensive to get the pre-perforated paper. Part of the issue was that I was afraid they might turn out looking shoddy from cutting them out.
I don't think cutting them out would look too terrible as long as you were careful about it. Give yourself enough time that you don't have to rush, and make sure your scissors are clean and sharp.
Hell, if you need the help, I might be able to do it once I get back from the honeymoon... I'll probably be a bit bored myself with no more wedding to plan, haha!

Hmm maybe I can get the supplies and then I can work on them in my free time instead of knotting... it's starting to sound like a good idea again. I don't actually care if there's legitimate ceremony related information in them, they're just pretty.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

We're going for a Subaru Outback. :-)
