County for Marriage License??

Hi everyone,

I know the county you get your license in doesn't really matter, but because our best man is under 16, he can't sign as a legal witness. However, due to church rules, the best man and maid of honor both have to sign. So basically, we need to find a county that issues a license with four lines for witnesses to sign instead of just two. Does anyone know offhand of any counties that do this?

Thanks!

Just curious, why does your church require the BM and MOH to be the people to sign?

Does it really NOT matter which county we get our license from? Or are we suppoesd to get it at a county that we'll be getting married in?

I'm getting married in Washington Co. How long does it take before the license expires? How much does it cost? I read that it costs about $140 but with pre-matrial counseling it'll be about $40. Is this correct?

Not sure if the county doesn't matter...
License is good for 6 months.
Correct - If you do pre-marital counseling it will be $40

You can get your license in any county in MN. It doesn't have to be the one you're getting married in.

I am getting married in Hennepin county, but went to a Dakota county office for my license because they are open until 6 PM on Thursdays. I received it in the mail the following Monday. It is good for 6 months.

Thanks, my FI lives in Washington County, so we'll just go through them. It's a Catholic wedding, and both the church and my priest require by Church law that the Best Man and MOH sign as official witnesses.

Does not matter which county. We live in Arlington County VA, but got married in St. Paul MN. Wedding license from Washington County. They try to make it easy on you
