Weather in NC can be unpredictable at any time of the year!  So, always make sure your vendors and venue have a back-up plan and don't forget to relax and have an amazing time, no matter what!

While the big party is fun, always remember the reason for why you're getting married. Keep each other close and plan the wedding / party that will make you and your FI happy.

It's very easy to get caught up in the little details and get stressed. When this happens, step back and spend some time with your significant other and just relax. It'll all be fine! :)

Vendors book early, especially in populated areas and along the coast. Do your research and interview a few vendors for each service. Make a deicsion, stick to it and sign a contract for everything.

If you're getting married in a small town, look to the closest big city for vendors. I was afraid the delivery/driving charges for a farther distance would be too high, but getting rentals and vendors from a larger market actually worked out cheaper.

Planning a wedding is a big project.  So stay organize and don't rush to a decision without doing your research. Also, start big and work your way down to the smaller details.  It is easy to feel overwhelmed. So focus on the big, important items first (budget, venus, catering, guestlist). Once those things are done, it is a lot easier to focus on the smaller details (shoes to wear, what should be your first dance, etc).

Finally, have fun! The most important thing to remember is that this is your day, no one else's.  If you want to wear a blue dress, wear a blue dress!  In the end, you are really the only one who will think about this day every day.  So make it yours!

Don't nit pick on little details that won't matter. Yes it's important to you because you have this idea in your head. But at the end of the day it's about you and your future husband. The centerpieces and flowers and ice sculptures don't matter. If something goes wrong the day of....take a deep breath and relax because there is nothing you can do about it until after the wedding. Will guests know that your wedding cake was the wrong flavor or your flowers were the wrong shade of pink.....definitely not.

I agree research is a big part of the wedding. Start planning early so you can take the time to research vendors, as well as reading good and bad reviews (which I always took bad ones with a grain of salt because of some bridezillas out there). Of course some bad ones are well deserved if you have more than 2 or 3 brides complaining about them.

this info was helpful...i haven't even been engaged 2 weeks and i'm already finding myself stressing over lots of things.  i'm hoping once i do nail down those big details like venue etc., some of that stress will be aleviated.  thanks!!
