Flower Budget?

Just curious (if you don't mind sharing) how much are you budgeting for flowers? I have had some people tell me that they only spent $800, while others are saying that they spent a few thousand. I know it obviously depends on the season, the type of flower, how many tables at the wedding, how much your total budget is, ect.

I am planning on meeting with three florists to get pricing, but just curious what everyone was alloting for flowers. My fiance and I sat down last night trying to come up with a budget for everything, and I had no idea how much I would be willing to spend on flowers. I don't know what is considered "average." I read somewhere that you should allow 2% of your total budget, but I don't know if that is realistic.

I had the same question and from what I read it was like 810 but it's honestly up to you and what you want and what your venue is like. If your venue is pretty and decorated as is or is outside you can get away with much less. I found that bc my venue has high ceilings and is mostly white walls we need tall colorful centerpieces to fill it with. Then also depends what kind of add ons for ceremony you need. ie a chuppah seems to be 500800 from most florists. I went to three so far and based on what I told them I wanted they all came in right around same price. It's a lot of money to spend on flowers but it depends on how much it means to you, I have been to weddings with barely any flowers and they were still beautiful and you really don't even notice.

That was supposed to say 8 to 10 percent of budget. Again that was just from what I read in a couple of books and magazines, definitely not saying that's the answer

We're spending about $2200 for 7 bouquets, 11 boutonnieres, 4 corsages, and 18 centerpieces. We didn't go with super expensive flowers - calla lillies, lisantheus, and hydrangeas.

If you do your own, it's obviously cheaper. If you have fewer people who get flowers, it's also cheaper. Also, if you can not get ceremony flowers (we didn't need any, as we're getting married the week after Easter and the church will already be stuffed with flowers), you can save money there.

We spent 1100 on 1 bridal bouquet, a toss bouquet, 4 bm bouquets, 4 corsages, a pomander, 9 bouts, and 14 low centerpieces.

I think it depends A LOT on the size of centerpieces and the number of tables. My florist qouted the lowest centerpiece cost at $40, and large high centerpieces with additional glassware and flowers can probaby range $200-$300 a table.

I believe I'm budgeting about $225 for my bouquet, $85 per each bridesmaid, $8 for each of the men's bouts, $15 for coursages (mothers, great aunts, etc) and the lower end of centerpieces. Flower girl wreaths for their heads are about $20, which I like. Tossing petals with a basket I believe are $30. You could also make a pomander of silk flowers for young flower girls that would be less expensive and just as pretty.

The prices I'm quoting for bouquets might be higher than other quotes, but I want us all to carry large, full flowers. What I choose will be in all pictures, and if you go smaller on bridesmaid flowers, it looks really not-so-great in pictures, in my opinion.

Centerpieces are not as important to me - I feel there should be something on the table, but it doesn't have to be extravagent or large.

It all depends on what is important to you and how you want everything to look overall.

We spent about 10% of our budget on flowers. It could have been less but my mother wanted a lot of flower to decorate the ceremony space as well.

I am not using flowers in my centerpieces at all. I am using tal silver candelabras that the venue provided and I am decorating them with stuff from the craft store. I really dont like flowers and don't want to spend a lot of money on them. It has to be YOUR preference as to importance and then decided what is too much for you.

This. We came in at around 8%. Our venue had ridiculously high ceilings and we wanted grand, tall centerpieces to fill up the room. We tried to choose seasonable flowers and have decent sized bouquets.

Our florist was great at taking our budget and working backwards. When you go for your consultations, bring some photos of your dress (so they can make suggestions for your bouquet), the venue space, bouquets you like, etc. and that way they can give you a realisitc expectation.

Thanks for all of the responses. I have a much better idea now. The flowers are somewhat important to me, but I don't want to go over the top with them. I love the way the look, I think they add a little something extra to the venue... but I am going to see if can do it with a lower cost flower. Calla lillies are supposed to be in season in September, which I love. Hopefully they will be on the cheaper side since they are in season. My venue also has very high ceilings so I was thinking of doing the taller centerpieces.

I have 3 bridesmaids, 2 junior bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, 1 jr. groomman and probably about 16 tables. I also have to do the throw away bouquet. We are aiming to have the ceremony outside (September), so I may not need additional flowers for that... which would be awesome.

I spent around $800 for my bouquet, 4 BM bouquets, 9 boutoniers, flowers to decorate cake, 2 floral arrangements + rented columns. Toss bouquet was free. My mom didn't want any flowers, so we did nothing for the moms. My venue already had centerpieces, so we just used their's. By comparison, I went to other florists who quotes me $1500 for the same amount of items, and $2500 if I wanted to do centerpieces as well. It really depends on how many items you want, how many people you have, and the type of flowers you want. A good florist will be flexible and help you work within your budget (a bad florist will not listen to you and suggest what they think looks good and push you towards that).

Also, see where there's opportunities to re-use flowers. Since our ceremony was at our venue, we brought the flower arrangements in and put them near our sweatheart table. Many florists will also try to push you towards flowers for your cocktail room (if separate) and flowers for table with escort cards/guest book and other areas. Seriously think about where you definitely want flowers and where you can do without.

It honestly all depends on what you want.
I'm getting the following for under 2k (2k was my budget and my florist came in under budget because everything I want is in season in April).

1 Bridal Bouquet
1 MOH Bouquet
7 Bridesmaid Bouqets
11 Bouteinerres
4 Wrist Corsages
3 Artifical flower balls for flower girls
Toss petals for girls
Aisle Runner for church
20 high centerpieces with white and pink cherry blossoms
2 large cherry blossoms/hydrangea baskets with pedistals for the alter in church
Toss Bouquet

He is also throwing in a bunch of extras for me. I'm working with Adam at AW Flowers in Kearny and he is amazing. I highly recommend him!

You can always use pre-arranged flowers. Try www.fiftyflowers.com. My wedding planner suggested them and we're going with them. She ordered a sample and we're cool with how they turned out. She's going to arrange and set them up on the day of.

Hi-
I'm working with a florist in Allendale NJ and we are spending about $2000
Brides bouquet, MOH bouquet, flower girl flower ball, grooms boutineer and Best man.
I'm also getting corsages for my mom and 3 aunts along with boutineers for my dad and two brothers and the ring bearers. She's making two wreathes for our alter. And 10 low full centerpieces along with a centerpiece for the bride/groom table. Included also is the runner, flower petals on the runner, lilac arrangement for the bathroom (want to make sure it smells fresh!!) toss bouquet was free.
The girl is great and I feel confident she'll do an amazing job. If you want contact info please private mesage me. She only does one wedding a day and goes to set up and doesn't leave till things are perfect.
