Hello 4 Bedroom, 3 Bedroom House...How YOU doing?

Andrew and I have been doing some serious research on homes in the area.
We realize that in our price range that we wont be able to find a house with all the features we are looking for...

But just for giggles and insight...

What are ALL the features YOU would love to find in a home?

(P.S. I really really wanted to sleep in this morning, because I'm feeling that..."It's that time of the month and I'm achy and just want to comfort myself." But I couldn't sleep in because Andrew's mom ALWAYS smokes cigarettes at 6:45 AM in the morning...and it always wakes me up. I feel like I'm suffocating on smoke. ::sigh::)

1. At least 3 bedrooms, would prefer 4
2. At least 2.5 bathrooms
3. 3 car garage (or 2 car garage and woodworking shed in the backyard)
4. Speaking of which, I want a backyard! Like, property...)
5. So I can plant a vegetable garden that's going to be amaaazing.
6. I'd prefer a two-story place because I feel you can divide the house well that way (and I'd love a basement, but that's not very feasible for the two states we will probably live in)
7. I want to own it. Rental leases are driving me bonkers these days

I'm sure I have several more requirements. Oh yea, I want an awesome kitchen and clean bathrooms (odd request, but I'd have trouble liking a place if the bathrooms weren't clean)

I'm a total renovation geek. I grew up with my parents never being scared to knock out a wall or strip a room to the studs, so while I'm not completely capable of doing all of the work myself (and FI doesn't know how to do it either) YET, I'm pretty fearless. Nothing a good saw and an instruction manual can't solve!!! And now you can ask me why on earth you care? Because every house that FI and I have looked at on the internet that we have decided needs NO work whatsoever costs...over $500,000. In fact, closer to the 1.2 million range. I have expensive tastes.

Most important for me, I think, is the kitchen. I want the big kitchen with room to cook and entertain. FI also wants an extra sunroom for him to turn into an Eagles room (not my living room, thankyouverymuch). We want good closet space in our bedroom, and a decent sized room and bathroom master suite. And a garage, for our handy things to go that we will own when I decide to demolish the kitchen and put my own countertops and tilework in.

Lunar, I felt very much the same way when I was looking for a house. Here you pretty much can't buy anything except condo style living for under $250K.

Hmmm, my wish list:
- beautiful kitchen - spacious, nice cabinets, possibly granite counters, stainless appliances.
- hardwood floors
- fireplace
- spa like bathrooms
- nice garage
- good size property
- short commute
- close to amenities
- good neighbours

I could seriously go on forever

FI and I are far from being able to buy a house, but I am an HGTV geek (being an architecture student doesn't help) and I love to peruse the realtor sites when I am bored. My wish list includes:

-Location: Close enough to a city to easily experience city life, but also with some space...

-Bedrooms/Bathrooms: 3 bed/2 bath. I absolutely want an ensuite master bath.

-Yard: Decent sized fenced (so no HOA that don't allow fences) yard is a must have for me because we dream of owning huskies =D

-Updated Kitchen: FI has an obsession with nice kitchens. I am also a fan! His family is Italian so he can make like gnocci and stuff from scratch which requires room to do so.

-Curb Appeal!!!

-Space to have an entertainment/sports room

Oh and all that for around 200,000 please?? Kthanx!

ETA: I need to finish grad school so I can GTFO of this city and get this dream home I am now salivating over!

Location is the biggest thing for me. I think I could live in just about any dump if it was in a place I loved. So #1 on my list of wants is a home on the water. The rest of this is negotiable, but I'll include it anyway. 2. 4 bed/3 full baths 3. Separate shower and tub in the master bath. 4. Walk-in closets and ceiling fans in every bedroom. 5. Not a scrap of carpet in the place. Wood or stained concrete floors only. 6. One story, all brick exterior. 7. Vaulted ceilings. 8. Huge windows. 9. Big kitchen. Now how long will it be until I get these things?

*a house that isn't "cookie cutter" in my part of town all the houses are exactly the same, on like tiny lots really close together and the same thing over and over. I want something that is more unique (NOT weird, but different from the others)
*glass doorknobs
*wainscoating in the entry foyer
*coffered ceilngs in the dining room
* at least a 1 car garage but preferably 2...bf deserves to put his car inside also haha
*Front porch or big deck on the back
*walk in closet for sure!

I have real estate fever. All I want to do is save up money to put towards a nice house. But I think buying said house will be a bit far into the future, since BF has at least 4 more years of school to go.

I want a larger house, but not too big. I think something over 3,000 sq. ft. would probably be too big. A lot of the houses we liked in the listings were 2,000-2,500 and that would be more than okay, especially because we have no intentions of having children.

Overall, the features we're thinking about would be:
-3-4 bedrooms
-2-3 baths
-Lots of natural light
-Spacious kitchen, with neutral tones
-Decently sized yard, in case we would like to get a dog
-Luxurious master bedroom & bath (separate jacuzzi tub & shower, vanity area, etc)
-And most importantly...A swimming pool!

This is the house I am currently lusting over. It was built in the 70s, but I think it looks classy, without trying too hard. And it has a pool and spa!

oh my - I would love to buy a house right now! Sometimes I look online and BF gives me a hard time about it because "we're not quite there yet babe". I'm a little spoiled because my condo has vaulted ceilings, LARGE closets and the best view of the Rocky Mountains out of every window! I think picking a house will be hard for us when we get to that point...but here's what we'd like:

1. 4BR, 2 to 3BA
2. Full basement, doesn't have to be finished
3. Minimum 2-car garage
4. Large backyard...hopefully some trees
5. Mountain views
6. Nice sized deck or a wrap-around porch
7. Large kitchen with an island
8. Open floor plan
9. Gorgeous master bath with a claw-foot bathtub
10. Curb appeal

BF was in construction previously, so we're willing to "fix up" the right place. We don't want to end up with any major construction or non-liveable spaces...but painting and basic cosmetic stuff we'd be fine with.

We get a whole room all to ourselves & chant/sing the Fight Song after every TD!! FI and I talk about this all the time. Here is our list (that I can think of) in order of most important.

1. Large backyard/good for entertaining
2. The house can't be super close to our neighbors
3. Close to work
4. Good school district/neighborhood
5. 3-4 bedrooms
6. Minimum 2 car garage
7. Semi-open floor plan
8. A deck and pool or space to put them in
9. Large and open kitchen

Wish list, but not required
1. Vaulted ceilings
2. Large master suite and bathroom

4. Large open foyer
5. Woods or a lot of land
6. Neighbors that get along/do stuff together

FI and I totally drove by a house this weekend that had a sign for "Pet Goats". I told him we should totally get one so that he can live in the back yard and eat our grass so that we don't have to do yardwork. We were going to name him Lawnmower...or if I was feeling cutesy, Mr Tumnus. LOL.

FI closed on his house literally 3 days before we met, and he did a great job. Our current house is about 1700 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, great floorplan, nice enough finishes (we plan on changing the countertops at some point) It's a great house and we'll probably live there until our kids start getting a little older (we aren't even planning on having kids for a few more years). But once they get older, we'll definitely need more space. So my wish list for our next home is:

- about 2500 sq.ft.
- 4-5 bedrooms (kids, guestroom, office)
- game room/play room so that the kids toys will be out of the living room
- 3 car garage
- bigger backyard and maybe a pool
- nice size kitchen w/ pantry
- separate tub & shower in the master bath
- big shower with 2 heads so we can take a shower together
- bigger walk-in closet

I'm late on this but I want to play too!

- at least 3 bedrooms (4 would be fine but we won't need more than that)

- a big yard

- in a good school district (ideally near an elementary school)
- large kitchen (with an island)

The house doesn't have to be our "perfect" dream house because we are project people. We like to have projects and would like to have room to make the house our own.

One thing I really want is hardwood floors when I get a house. At the very least, hardwood/tile/etc in the kitchen and bathrooms where the most mess is made. I would love that.

I'd love to live in the suburbs of a moderately big city like Washington D.C. or Boston one day. I love suburban homes. I always wanted one when I was a kid.

I would like a house with a bedroom for each kid, which would probably be 2-3 bedrooms.

Other than that, I'm not too picky. As long as the roof doesn't leak on a regular basis and there's plenty of room, I'll be happy.

Right now FI and I can't afford a house but we are looking to buy a townhouse closer to the beach in the mean time. Location is very important to us because we want to live close to the beach but not too far away from our family.

As far as our future home goes, I'd want:

1. A wrap-a-round porch
2. Curb appeal with fresh green lawn and a great backyard
3. 4-5 bedrooms
4. 2-3 bathrooms
5. Finished Basement
6. Updated kitchen with island
7. Centralized areas for family room, living room, kitchen and bedrooms, no meshed together rooms like the laundry room in the kitchen for example lol
