NER: Lil' Cat Update

I posted last week about my little buddy (link here).

After two days at the vet, and multiple xrays and tests, he is home! They aren't really sure what happened, other than just an upset belly, and he needed fluids. He's on a pink medicine (looks like pepto to me) for a bit, but no other throwing up, and he's VERY happy to be home. Also, since he often throws up, I'm happy about the x-rays. I always wondered if he threw up for some REASON, not just because he's a scarf-n-barfer, and now I KNOW. Nope. Just a scarf-n-barfer.

Cost me $538. But, honestly, it's worth every penny because I know it wasn't a huge deal and the x-rays put me at ease.

Here are some photos! First one is of him when we got in the car, all "DRIVE B!TCH!" The second is him napping immediately after coming home and the third is on mah lap.

I have never loved an animal QUITE this much. Man.

Thanks for all the good vibes! Butters thanks you, too.

Re: NER: Lil' Cat Update

  • Aw, glad he's okay :)
  • Aww, Thanks for the update! I'm glad he's ok. I hear you about the love, I'm a mess when my fur babies are sick!

  • Yay! I'm glad he's ok!! As mommy to a scarf-and-barfer, I'm glad to hear it's nothing more than that (as annoying as that can be).

Butters is ADORABLE by the way. I love ginger kitties :)

[QUOTE]I have a scarf and barf cat myself. The spot bot is mah buddy.  Could be worse; friend's cat is a revenge pisser.

Tell me more about this Spot Bot you speak of. There's still time for me to add this magic thing to my registry and cross my fingers.

Also, I have NEVER had a cat with pee problems, but I hear of all these people who do, then I read the articles that say that cats NEVER have pee problems unless something is wrong. I think that might be true, like 80% of the time. 20% of the time, maybe the cat is just an asswhole.

    He's my favorite thing EVER.

Sigh. Besides FI, I suppose. But Butters snuggles better.
  • Glad to hear Butters is doing well!  Our cat Zephyr was a scarf and barfer.  We got him high fiber food and he is much better now.  I don't know why, it just seems to help.  The vet recommended it, because he also seemed to get constipated.  I think that was the main reason he scarfed and barfed.

Zephyr is also our cuddlier.  His favorite person is FI, so when FI gets home from work it is mandatory cuddle time.  The meowing won't stop if the cuddles don't happen!  As the person who introduced cats into FI's life, I find it very adorable and sweet.  Zephyr makes time to cuddle with me AND our other cat at least once a day, but cuddles with FI are the only mandatory ones.  Before we moved, FI was gone for five days while interviewing.  Zephyr would not leave him alone for 24 hours after he got back.  Best furbaby ever!

  • I am so glad that he is better! He is so adorable and looks well behaved in the car.
I have a scarf and barfer and I didn't realize how common that is in cats.
  • So glad Butters is feeling better!

I have a scarf and barf cat also.  Sometimes we have to separate her from her food because she eats so fast.

Ha, I think it's unspoken in our house that Mo is both of our favorites :) She's just so fluffy.

I never knew so many people had scarf-and-barfers! We don't have many "cat people" friends and they all think it's bizarre that we have to give her her dinner in 2 to 3 separate portions to make sure she doesn't just inhale and then lose it. I'm sort of relieved to hear we're not alone!
  • My FSIL's cats are revenge pissers. When she was pregnant they both had to go on kitty Valium, or they would pee on all the beds everyday. I don't know how she dealt with it!

  • Yay!! Glad Butters is home!
I've definitely dropped several hundred on what turned out to be minor problems before, so I know the feeling. But I'd do nearly anything for my furrbabies! Glad others will too. :)
  • He's adorable!  I'm obsessed with my kitty as well - a few months will be her 1-year adoption day anniversary.  FI gives me a hard time about it because I actually know that date (June 13), but I could never remember our dating anniversary...  I tell him it's because I love the cat more :)

FI lives out of town right now, and I actually think he misses the cat more than me - he calls sometimes just so he can talk to her on the phone.  As long as both of us love her the most, I think we're good lol

</div><div>Haha! I celebrate "approximate" birthdays (Butters' is April 1st) and "homerversaries," or the day they came home!

</div><div>Sorry, but no cat is a "revenge" anything. Animals don't work that way no matter what people think. There is always a reason for why they are acting the way they do. If I had to guess, I would say that they could sense the hormones she had and knew something was up. They were probably marking their territory. </div><div>
</div><div>I had a friend who said her cat was a revenge pee-er because he peed right outside the litter box. Know why he did it? Because he was declawed and pawing the litter hurt his paws. She switched to a finer grain like sand and all was fine. There is always ALWAYS a reason for their behavior. </div><div>

</div><div>OP, I was following your post. I'm very happy to hear Butters is better!</div>
