Who's got them and what are they and do you want more? What does your SO think of them?

I'm trying to design one for when I get to my goal weight. I've got the message down, but need to figure out a symbol that is right. I'm doing "Never give up" taken from the Winston Churchill quote, "Never, never, never give up." But I'm going to have it done in morse code so it'll be more private. I want a symbol to go with it, but am having a hard time coming up with ideas as of yet.

I also have a butterfly (feeling of freedom and independence after moving away and going to college) and a heart with an arrow (tribute to my horoscope/personality).

My BF isn't particularly fond of them, but I had the tattoos before I had him so he's alright with those and he understands the importance of the "never give up" one I want, but is really hoping it'll be my last one, lol.

I have one tattoo... a tiger paw on my left hip. I got it the summer before my junior year of college (the Tigers were our mascot) and I'm so glad I did. It's a great reminder of those four years that will always be with me in the form of friends and amazing memories. FI doesn't love it, but it's fairly small so it doesn't come up that often.

He has a crow tattoo'd on one of his ankles. It's an interesting choice, but totally makes sense once you get to know him.

I have been tattooed twice, but the tattoo is all one thing. I got a pink/red/orange dragonfly and had water done below it later.

The dragonfly was done after my grandfather past away. It is a symbol of eternal life.

When I split from my Ex-Fi, I had the water done to symbolize rebirth of my new life.

BF wanted to get stars along his side (rib area), but never did and now has decided against any tattoos.

ETA: Because my mother is so anti anything to your body (she freaked when she saw my belly ring for the first time)... I got it on my VERY low stomach., lets just say if I decided I never wanted to see it again, I could let my Brazilian grow in.

No one see it unles I want them too.

My BF has thought about getting one but his mom kinda drilled it into him that tattoos are for sailors and prostitutes. She's in her mid 60's so I guess it was accurate in her generation. So he's thinking about getting one, but can't quite commit because of that negative attachment to it.

FI and my dad are completely against tattoos. After my dad chased me down the street with pliers the day I got my belly button pierced, I decided against them.

If I could get one, I'd like an E in some sweet font right below my ankle about the size of a quarter or nickel. I'd also like a moustache on my finger, I think it's hilarious.

My BF hates them, but I've always wanted one or two. He wouldn't care if I got one because it's my body and my choice, but if you were to ask him which he prefers, it's definitely no tattoos.

One of my best friends' husbands has a moustache on his finger. They took e-pics with serious faces and then the finger moustaches...so cute! I never realized his was a tattoo until about a year later.

I don't have any tattoos, but BF has 5. One on each shoulder, one on each shoulder blade and one on the back of his right calf. He thinks it would be kind of sexy if I got a tattoo, but I don't know if I ever would. I think I would like something on my foot...but there's nothing I feel that strongly about having on my body forever.

I have one. It's a pretty flower design on the top of my foot (this was before that location became popular). I still love it, I think it's pretty, and I can always cover it if I need to. However, I don't think I'll get any more.

FI doesn't have any tattoos and he never will. Not that he's 'against' them or anything, he just never had an interest in getting one himself.

I really don't like tattoos. I am cool if you have one, want one, or are getting one, but for me no. I get that from my dad. I don't like how they look when you are older, no matter how cute it is now.

But to each his own and if that is what you want, go ahead, doesn't hurt me!
BF likes them, his big brother has one, but I am pretty sure he won't get one because I don't like them.

I like tattoos, but this is the reason I don't plan on getting one. FI wants to get one someday, but he can't think of anything with enough significance either. I won't be surprised if he gets one eventually, but I also won't be surprised if he doesn't.

I do wish I had more piercings, though.

I have one on my foot. It's the initials on a friend who passed away, it also has wings and the qoute "we only part to meet again".

My BF is okay with it, but thinks that it's not a good idea to get another one. I'm big on getting tattoos that have meaning, so that when it looks like shiit when you're old, you still love it for what it represents.

I'm itching to get one on my wrist, but my nursing program and dental school I'll be going to don't allow visible tattoos. Maybe someday...

I have two little ones that are hidden under clothing. Did anyone see the episode of Say Yes To The Dress, Atlanta with the bride who had a HUGE dragon tattoo on her back - her mother kept trying to pick dresses to cover it up and she picked them to show it off -

I have 1 on my upper thigh. It's a few little stars and a crescent moon. I guess that's more than 1, but it was all part of 1 pattern, I got at the same time, so I consider it one tat.

BF doesn't care. His entire back is tattood and I kind of love it. You would never guess, from looking at him with his shirt on, and I never thought I'd find that much ink attractive, but do I ever. It could just be him, though.

I have no tattoos, neither does BF. Both our parents are against them so we've never really had any desire to get any. I'd love to get a (subtle) HP tattoo but I doubt I'll ever do it. I'm too worried about regretting it, and what it would look like in several decades.

Some of my friends have great tattoos, I love seeing what other people have. Its just not for me.

I'm getting my first one in september. Woo! I made the appointment nine months ago, sometimes I forget. lol The artists is the person who's tattooed my parents and my sister, but she's very popular. I was lucky to get an appointment under ten months out.

I'm getting this on the back of my neck:

It's the symbol from Michael Jackson's HIStory album and it has a lot of personal meaning for me. I almost killed myself when I was 13 and it was an MJ song that made me pause and his music was what I would play whenever I was having a suicidal episode. I'm getting it to mark my just over two year mark of no suicidal thoughts or cutting.

BF is on board because he knows how much it means to me. He otherwise isn't a huge fan of tattoos. Depending on how this one goes, I want to get "Defy Gravity" written on the inside of my wrist.

I have five of them and I don't think theres anything else I want. But that could change. And I definitely don't regret any of them.

My BF is indifferent. I forget I have them and he's so used to seeing them that they're just a normal part of my body that he doesn't focus on.

I have my dad's name on my right ribs, higher up. I have the Ghandi quote, "be the change you wish to see in the world" on my left ribs. I have an elephant and the FFA emblem on my back (lower, think hips but on your back.), and a bumble bee on my ankle. All have significant meaning to me, but I don't particularly feel like explaining them.

I would love one but my husband has strong views on it , and though he enjoys them on others he dosen't like the idea of them on me. I personally love tattoos and believe it started because both my sisters and all their boyfriends always had them so my exposure to them at a young age led me to love it. I really started to want one especially after my mom passed away - but I feel I couldn't truly ever get one to commemorate her memory since she disliked tattoos so much , seems a bit backwards to me so I have held out - that and my husband won't let me get one , keeps me grounded for now lol

It's probably for the best since I have an addictive personality and all my good friends that do have them can't stop at just one , and I can understand why.

I have two: my first I got when I was 17, a chinese symbol that means 'courage' on the left side of my lower back. I don't necessarily regret the meaning behind this one but I do wish I had waited to get it. I was kind of rebelling in a way & while 'courage' definitely has meaning for me the whole chinese symbol thing is just bleh. My second one I got when I turned 22, it's an Irish claddagh on the inside of my right foot below my ankle bone. I love love love this one. I want another really badly but haven't been able to decide on anything. My mom suggested we get celtic crosses in honor of my Poppop so I may do that

BF has a red & green NJ Devils tat on the back of his calf & from his shoulder to elbow (inside & outside of his arm) done in Iron Maiden covers. That sounds really weird but he's obsessed with them & it's actually really really well-done.

I'm the one on the left...my neighbor and I got matching ones on senior week. Both of our firsts. They're actually half of a tramp stamp...doesn't mean much of anything except for friendship.

My second: A lily. It's pretty...the story isn't worth getting into. And in the background...part of my freshman year dorm room. Hoorayyy.

My third...my two best friends and I all got variations on three stars. This was mine. One friend got hers on her foot, the other got hers on her outer thigh, and mine is on my upper ribs.

And my fourth. This is my latest (almost a year old, must be time for a new one!)...it's a quote from socrates. BF and I are both philosophy nerds...it's how we met, actually, philosophy class. He got a different quote across his back.

BF got one with me...so he's not opposed. He's as addicted as I am, though he still only has one so far. He's going to add more to it when the money exists.

deburnin: I'm so happy that you have gotten past that dark part of your life and you have someone to support you! I have a friend who isn't very healthy mentally and she has started to get an addiction to pain to make her feel better and I sometimes worry she'll end up heading down that path if the stress gets to be too much.

I've currently got two. I have a blue morpho butterfly on the back of my hip, in memory of my grandmother (she loved blue and she loved butterflies)...my sister and I got that one together, and two of my younger cousins plan to get the same one when they're legal. I also have the chinese symbols for hope, faith, love and integrity across my back - four things you shouldn't live your life without, and four things you should never take for granted.

I'm planning to get at least two more...I want to get a pheonix after I finish my Ph.D. on my other back hip, and I plan to get my children's names underneath my heart (on the ribcage) after I'm finished having kids. I'm debating getting a tiny winged foot on my ankle if/when I finish a half marathon.
