I am having difficulty making a decision and I could use your help ladies…Here’s the story:
I am going to a bridal shower this weekend for my FSIL. My mom was invited too and so we are going to combine resources and buy her a bigger gift. We both kind of procrastinated and now we're in a bit of a bind.
Our original plan was to get her four place settings from the dish set that she wanted. The problem is that it is only available online. With the expedited shipping costs, it would put us a bit over what we wanted to spend. Plus I'm wondering if it would look weird carrying in four identical boxes, and watch her open four of the same thing in a row. So here are our current options:
1. Get her the dishes, and just pay the expedited shipping.
2. We also considered just going to the store and getting her the vacuum cleaner she wanted, which would cost the same as the dishes plus the expedited shipping. And it's only one box. Plus I feel like she might get more use out of this gift. Again though, it's a little more than what we are comfortable spending.
3. Get the dishes and have them sent to her apartment with standard shipping. Then, print a picture of the dishes and put it in a card. Is this tacky? Have you ever seen anyone do this?
What would you do?
Thanks in advance!
Re: Shower Gift Question
I agree with the PP who suggested bringing a nice card and a bottle of wine.

[QUOTE]I said ship it to her house. <strong>Don't feel like you need to print off a picture of them though -- she picked them out and she knows what they look like.</strong> I agree with the PP who suggested bringing a nice card and a bottle of wine.

That's true. Though I was thinking more along the lines of putting the picture in so that at the shower, she already knows what we got her.
I like the champagne idea, but she doesn't drink. Along those lines though maybe I can get her a cute "bride" t-shirt, or flip flops for the wedding day or something. She doesn't have any bridesmaids (who in my experience usually get that stuff, if anyone does at least) so maybe that would work?
[QUOTE]I would get her the dishes and have them sent to her. You can bring a bottle of champagne or something like that to the shower and let her know you had something sent to her home so she didn't have to worry about transporting it.

<div>Love this! I also feel like getting her the dishes is nicer than a vac. Obviously, she'd get use out of both, but dishes are prettier! What a thoughtful gift! </div>

This is a wonderful idea! Bring something small to the shower and let her know to expect something in the mail shortly! :)
I voted vacuum because I would like a vacuum way more but I am not her so I would say your 3rd option is perfect
