Short hair help!

HELP! I have been continuously looking at wedding hair pics. All look lovely....one problem...I have chin/shoulder length hair! I am having the most difficult time finding a great style for ME!!

I have been trying to grow my hair for my wedding in Oct. However, I actually like my hair :) (I had a GREAT angled cut- notice I said had! ) I've contemplated getting extensions for the day and having full, long, curled locks. I'm just not sure I want to look fake.

I guess I just need advice on what other people have been doing or if anyone has any pics of great short styles!

I'm having an outdoor wedding, strappless dress with much beading on the bodice (if this helps with style!)

Re: Short hair help!

  • I would keep your hair the way you have it since you love it and it is flattering. You could just add an accessory (hairband, clip, veil) to dress it up, or you could do retro glam waves (but this will make it seem a bit shorter). I think that with your length of hair, extensions will look fake.
  • I have short hair too, Im growing it out just long enough to pull up because I think it will look better with my dress.

What about a cage veil? they look great with short hair with a pretty clip or flower!

  • I have short hair. At one point I grew my hair out long because I thought I'd want it that way for my wedding. But I realized I didn't look like "me" anymore. So I chopped it back off. I'm wearing it just the way I wear it every day, because it's truest to me. And it's the way my fiance prefers it too.

If you want, add a headband, a clip, a veil, etc. But if you love your short hair, then keep it that way!
  • Thanks, all!

MsBunny- I've been doing the same but am getting to the point where i just don't like my hair long! Maybe I will look at headbands. I prefer a long veil, so maybe somehting I can work in after the ceremony.

My MOH suggested a cage veil, as well. I just liek the look of longer veil!
  • Sounds like the same style as you...so I am having three tiny organza flowers with crystal centres wired in to dress up the look a bit, and I will still look like me!

  • If you like a little retro glam, you could try finger waves or pin curls (or a combination of both!).  Both of those work great on your length of hair and would look gorgeous under a veil or with a flower hair pin.  If you are doing your hair yourself, you can google either one of those styles and you'll find several websites that give tutorials on how to do them.  They are both fairly easy styles and ones you can try ahead of time to make sure you like them.  Best of luck!
  • I feel your pain! I'm lazy about my hair, and recently went to get it cut. My hair stylist asked if I was growing it out for my wedding (in 4 months). I said "no, time to chop it off." So 6 inches gone.  I like my hair chin length.
I'd like to wear a longer veil, but I'm having trouble invisioning how/ where it will attach. I do like the picture that several people have posted here. Since the wedding is August, I want my hair to look fresh and summery. It is a church ceremony, and I'd like a veil, then remove it for the reception. hmmmm
