Wedding Party

Role for friend/future sister in law/

I have decided to ask one of my future sister in laws to be the wedding coordinator on the day of the wedding.  My problem is a friend of mine (also future sister in law) will be upset she does not have a role (she is not in the wedding party either as our party is small).  I thought about having her help me to go shops and look at ideas and get items together for the wedding but I do not want to step on the toes of my MOH.  I would ask her to co-coordinate the day of the wedding but the two sisters in law will not work well together. Any suggestions on a role for my second future sister in law?

Re: Role for friend/future sister in law/

  • I agree, Coordinator is a paid role and not something I would consider to be an honour for anyone (unless they were honoured with my hard earned cash for doing it!).

One role that would be nice is a reading, I have 2 readers at my wedding because I wanted to honour those two friends.

Another thing to keep in mind is that being a guest IS an honour...
  • Hm.  I was going to post a similar question.  I don't have a hired Day-Of-Wedding coordinator (besides for the venue's maitre'd) so I was also wondering who could help with any list minute questions/phone calls, when neither myself nor my fiance are around to answer.

I don't think it's offensive to ask someone to help out.  People understand.  Some might think it's nice that you trust their judgment.  Essentially you're saying, "This is a worst case scenario, but if it happens, I totally trust your call."

I was also thinking of asking my sister in law, if that helps at all.  Your other future sister in law might be into helping with DIY things.  And as a PP mentioned, it's always nice to be a guest, as is.
  • Not worst case scenario, something horrible.. but something that could be handled by someone besides the bride/groom/bridal party.  Really I am imagining someone who could answer the phone if someone is lost, the florist is running late, etc.
