idk if this will help but my reception is at spain in Narragansett. ours is really small, like 30 ppl have rsvped small.
i was gonna do the v-inn but i dont like the manager.
and then the coastguard house in Narragansett. but they told me that because my wedding was going to be 50 ppl they'd block off HALF of the dinning area.
That is so funny I was just going to suggest Spain too! My dad got remarried last summer and he had the ceremony at the gazebo near the beach and then the reception at Spain. The cocktail hour is downstairs inside or out and they hae this pretty little fountain outide on the patio and then the reception is upstairs in the receoption room. A+
how was spain? i am sooo worrid you have no idea. An old friend of mine had the upstairs for her reception. we have the whole downstairs. I am just so worried about how they are on timing and silly organization stuff like that. I emailed them to stop by this weekend, but they havent emailed me back yet
Our wedding is also about 75 people and there are a lot of great venues in that area for that size: The Towers, Kinney Bungalow and the North Beach Clubhouse in Narragansett immediately come to mind. You'd hire outside caterers for all three of those. I know there was someone on the board at some point getting married at the South County Museum in Narragansett but that would require a tent. I think you can also do a tent wedding at Smith's Castle on the harbor in North Kingstown (still in South County.)
The Village Inn or Spain would be good if you just want the catering all taken care of for you. Note that when I looked into Spain, you could only do a day wedding but that was a little while ago. If you want more of a country club/banquet hall type site, there's Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown and the Quonset 'O' Club. The Ocean House in Westerly also is reopening this year. Beautiful location.
Also, it's not South County but I also looked into the Bay Voyage Inn in Jamestown, also beautiful and right on the water. Ultimately, we decided we wanted to hire our own caterer. If you like Newport but don't want the cost, look into the Easton's Beach Rotunda in Newport; very affordable prices. Again, you'd bring in your own caterer.
We were really close to booking at Kinney Bungalow but decided on The Meeting House at Tiverton Four Corners. Very rustic, outdoorsy site and perfect for a wedding of our size. Good luck!
mrs.morris Spain really was great! It seemed like everything went very smoothly. There was never a time where it felt like a lull. The food was exquisite! The only bad part, was our waiter seemed like he was stoned - very nice though... At the end we were all scatter braned and we were leavng and they called out to remind us that we forgot the cake top, cutting things etc which they had already carefully wrapped up for us.
oh i am so glad to hear something positive about them. They still havent returned my email. The manager was wonderful when we first went in. My parents are paying for the reception and my dad is really hard to please (he hates spending lots of money) and he looked at me and told me to book them lol. I guess im just sort of a control freak hahah
I'm getting married at the North Beach Clubhouse... It's pretty cheap to rent (600 if you're a narragansett resident, not sure what it is if you're not). The good things are the location and the price. Beautiful views and I love the deck looking out over the beach. The inside room is nothing special, just a big room with wooden floors, but it looks nice once it's full of tables, flowers, candles and guests. The negatives are the restrictions... No more than 100 people and the wedding cannot start until 6 pm, and they won't let you in to decorate or set up before 4. So, that makes it very hard to DIY since our ceremony is at 4:30. I've been begging her to let me in earlier in the day so I can string some white lights up and they won't budge. So, if you do choose this place you need a caterer/florist who you trust to set up and decorate. But, otherwise I'm very happy and excited to get married there!

We really like Kinney Bunglaow but it was too small for what we wanted (140). I think it would be really nice and it is very inexpensive.
