Different table themes for centerpieces? Or other ideas?

How tacky is this idea?????

My FI, bless his heart, can't make up his mind about centerpieces. Yes, he is SUPER involved with every aspect so just making the decision for both of us is out of the question. We've tossed around a few ideas and then he come up with another one! And I just want to plan already!!! LOL.
So yesterday while we were perusing through Hobby Lobby he mentioned the idea of different tables since we both like different things. I'm 50/50 on the idea. We don't exactly have a theme, at least we don't right now and are still in the early stages of planning (for us) but need to make decisions so we can budget accordingly.
Our venue is outside w/ a water and mountain views so we're thinking more rustic so everything would have a vintage type feel.
So.......organized chaos or just chaos? Any other ideas to help out this indecisive couple
Right now just flowers will be at the tables most likely in mason jars. We don't want to do candles since it will be an outdoor afternoon reception.

  • You can have 2-3 different table centerpieces depending on the amount of tables you have. Many people do tall, thin centerpieces on half, and shorter on the other half. I think it looks nice.

We had 2 different kinds of centerpieces. Manzanita branches with a few blooms on them in square vases of river rocks, and then a tall cylinder vase with orchids and curly willow in the other.

  • A girl on my local had all of her tables different but still with an overall literary theme.  It was beautiful but it was also a lot of work and she put hours into it.

Honestly, this is one of those details that we brides all love to fret over but that really shouldn't be given too much thought.  As long as the tables are overall aesthically pleasing, that is all your guests are going to remember.  You could just have your flowers with a menu and table number and that would be perfectly fine.  Keep it simple is my advice.  I do like the idea of two different centerpieces on alternating tables (and considered it myself) but that is as far as I would take it.
  • We used books for our centerpieces, so each was slightly different.  I think as long as there is something unifying amongst the centerpieces or you have two to three types that work together, you are fine.  I just wouldn't do too many different types or have them be completely opposite styles.
