    My bridal shower was on Sunday and it was awesome, my mom is amazing and thought of everything. For example, she did a Bingo game during the guest opening, and she made her own Bingo sheets that matched the invitations, and handed out pencils to play it that were our colors and said 'Courtney's Bridal Shower'. It was at a very nice restaurant by my parent's home.

    She basically took all of the ideas I liked for the wedding but didn't fit into the theme and used them for the shower...I'm going to AW the cake mostly because it was amazing, it's from Stephanie's in Monroe, they're doing the wedding cake too! And you can also see the centerpieces and favors we had. Well, you can sorta see the favors - they're personalized M&Ms tied in a bag with a little whisk attached.

    I know she obsessed...I told her she didn't have to do all that but she blamed me because she went online and got sucked into the wedding blogs too, and after teasing me about getting caught up in little tiny details she went and did the same exact thing, haha.

    My AWs are small this week.

    Finished the birdcage cardbox and added a fresh coat of ivory paint (there had been objection to it because a bird may or may not have lived in it....don't ask....)




    And finished the sign and flower pens for the guest book

    Rachael - those are so cute.  My wedding is in a week, and you are putting me to shame, as I do not yet have a cardbox, or a sign for the guestbook (I'm thinking I will skip the guestbook sign, but seriously, your pens are the greatest thing I've ever seen).  I wish your wedding was before mine so I could buy these things.

    Not too much to AW.  I eventually figured out my seating chart (yes!), talked to the DJ, am working on talking to other vendors for the final time, etc.  Its 9 days away!

    Aww thanks Meg :) the sign is simple: "the good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge" please share your wishes and wisdom for Steve and Rachael. I didn't quote the author because he was anti-religious, but I still love the quote and wanted to use it. Oh well. I have tons of supplies left over. I'll make you pens if you want. They took 10 mins tops. PS - 9 days! That's an AW in itself! Single digits!

    Thanks, but that's ok!  I'm in a simplifying, not complicating stage of wedding planning (basically, if its not done, and not 100% necessary, its not getting done!).  Its sort of liberating.  If I had seen your post a month ago, I  may have done somethng with it!

    I don't really have anything to aw but I just wanted to say everything everyone posted looks great!  You all are SO close!

    Rachael - for the pens did you just use a floral head, floral tape, and a pen?

    Rachael -- I love that bird cage card box, where'd you get it and are you going to sell it? (is it sad that we are now scoping out 'for sale' items BEFORE the wedding even happens :-)  )

    I have no AWs, but someday soon I hope to!

    Pens 101: Pack of Bic pens Roll of floral tape Fake flowers (I used 2 large hydrangeas and 2 garden roses). Cut the flowers off, but leave a little bit of the stem. Using the tape, wrap the flower to the top of the pen. Pull very tight with the tape to make it secure. Then wrap the tape tightly around the pen on a diagonal. The end. Cost me about $8 in total vs $7 per pen on etsy. Plus, this way you can match to your wedding flowers and feel like Martha Stewart :)

    Meegles - I bought it from Liz :) there is a lot of good karma with this birdcage :) I plan to sell it after the wedding, but need to see if my FSIL wants it first. If she doesn't - it's yours :)

    I got excited and posted my awww last night. I think I found the dress and it just so happens to be the right price. Here are a few pictures from the internet. It is so completely not what I thought I would end up with. I just can't get over how much I love it though.

    Thanks ladies and the kitty in a bag did add a smile to my face :) I am trying to shake it off but every corner I turn there is more crap. Wedding, personal and now work too. I so need to just go sit in my car and pray for a second cause I am on the verge of flipping seriously!

    Sounds like we are in the same boat!  Just think it will all be over soon.  I hope today is the last of the crap and tomorrow gets better for you.

    Congrats to everyone above!  LOTON that dress is gorgeous, glad it worked out for you! Hope everything is perfect for your wedding this Saturday, Songbrd!

    Nothing major on the WR front this week, but I did have a phone interview for a Postdoc position on Friday and was asked to come out for an interview at the end of the month! Another PI wants me to visit her lab while I am out there, so outlook is good that I will be able to find a position in an excellent lab. I am really excited about both opportunities, so hopefully they go well and I can head out to SD soon!

    lots of great AWs today.  and Rachael - you need to explain the story behind repainting the birdcage... I'm too curious not to ask!

    Songbrd - congrats on your wedding week!  I can't wait to see pictures and hear (err read?) all about it!

    Lol. When I brought up that I was using a birdcage as a card box I got a reaction as if the guests were going to get Ebola because of it. I actually really liked the way it looked, kinda antiquey. It wasn't dirty with bird crap all over it (obviously!!! Liz had just used it at her wedding). It's just that the paint was chipped a little (like barely noticeable!). So, in the spirit of compromise, I spent 1.5 hours last night at the kitchen table painting with a tiny brush. Just because a bird may or may not have ever lived in the perfectly fine and beautiful birdcage. This probably belonged in yesterday's post...

    What a great fiancee you are to compromise.  I probably would have told Todd that if he was so worried about it, he could paint it himself.  Not that I would actually make him do it (and wouldn't want him near it with a paint brush!) but more so because I know he wouldn't have cared enough to do it himself.

    Although when I first bought the birdcage, Todd looked at it and was like, "what is THAT for?!"

    It'll be a funny story you'll tell your grandkids one day.  And believe me, it's funny!

    Well today ended much better than it started. We had counseling today and that helped to ease my mind then I come home to a lovely package on the porch. I was trying to figure out what the heck it could be in such a small flat box but after almost running through the garage to get in the house to check the box that was on the front porch I find out it is my wedding guestbook that i ordered on Friday from mixbook that is here already.


    It is sooooooo cute I love it. Here is a picture of the cover! Things are starting to look up :)

    Sheena I knew your day would turn around.  Also, I LOVE the cover art!

    My day got better as soon as dinner was over too.   My FI and I just watched a few TV shows we had on the DVR.  It felt so good to just sit and not try to think about anything or do anything.
