Seamstress has not started BM's dresses

Hello, I had my BM's measured for their dresses months ago, after the initial fitting the person making their dresses said the next fitting would be in February, she later called me up and said since we have so much time (wedding is August 7th)  we can move the next fitting to the end of May.  Well this is the end of May, I contacted her to see when I could expect to have my BM's come in for their next fitting and to let her know that time is getting close and a few of my BM's will be going on vacation so we really need to make this happen by June 12th at least.  She informed me that no the dress will be in the END of June, they haven't even started on my BM's dresses (she said they have to cut them etc.) now I'm really starting to freak out because I think their dresses are not going to be ready in time, especially for the girls who  are going on vacation for 2 weeks (not returning until July 26th)  I'm thinking of calling her and saying that we might have to go another route because I really don't think she'll be done in time.  My best friend who is also a BM thinks we will be okay but I'm really starting to worry.  Think I should just go look for dresses off the rack and call it day???? I've had my first fitting but she hasn't called me back for another one since that first fitting.  Only minor alterations are needed for mine so I'm not worried, but the BM's issue is killing me.

  • If you aren't comfortable, I would go somewhere else. But, if you push her and tell her you are going somewhere else, she may realize and start giving you more attention/ working on it. My wedding is Aug. 28th and my BM's are going for their first fitting the first week in July.

  • How did you find this seamstress?  Was it a trustworthy recommendation?  If so then you should trust her but tell her that at least two (the two who are going on vacation) need to come in before they go on vacation.  Tell her that it would ease your mind and get you off her case if you could just know that they've at least tried on their dresses (as in they've been cut and they can see what it looks like on).

If you don't know anything about the seamstress then I would look into another option like getting dresses off the rack.

  • For my  mom's wedding our dresses didn't come in until a week before her wedding!! And trust me they had plenty of time to order them & get them in. Everything turned out fine though. We all got fitted & everything was perfect. So just take a breather hopefully for you they come in sooner than our did & even better yet maybe they'll come in before she is expecting.

Thanks all, I think I'm better today.  My coordinator also told me that she thinks we have enough time to work with so I'm not going to stress.  I've used her before for my daughter's prom dresses so I am very familiar with her work, and I never had any issues with her then so I'm hoping for the best with my wedding.
