  • As I mentioned in that thread yesterday, even my 9 year-old (who, as a group are not known for their taste in decorating), would hate that kitchen.

  • I know you're all hating on that kitchen, but there's this fabulous little drag queen inside of me who's dying to have a whole obnoxious house like that.

FI and I made the decision to alter our schedule to fit the dog's needs. For 6 months I left work twice a week at lunch to drive over 20 minutes both ways to let Oz out and give him some time to stretch his legs when he was young and still in the house breaking phase. Every single time I left I wished I could just stay and grab lunch like my coworkers, but I did it for my dog. If we weren't willing to adjust some things and make these sacrifices, we wouldn't have adopted our pup.

I'm in the same boat since we took on dog #3 (a puppy) and of course we have days when we are like holy cow our house is MASS PAW CHAOS but I would never return any of them like an unwanted piece of clothing.

I thought that to because I feel bad for the dog and I want it to be with people who looooooooove him/her.  This poster is the reason that animals are abandoned at shelters or given up.  People DO NOT think about all the responsibilities that come with a pet.  I mean her husband is a med student who is never home and they plan to do a lot of traveling.  Did she not fill out an adoption application?  Because they specifically ask you questions about future traveling & work schedule.  I guess 5 days AFTER she filled out the application, got the dog and THEN she realized that a dog doesn't fit into her life?   I just think she is a moron and I hate people like her with every bone in my body.

What do you have? (we have 2 beagles, 2 puggles)

I have four too, and hardwood floors, and getting a Roomba changed my life. I'm not kidding. The Roomba runs every day and there is zero dog hair on my floors now, ever. I do have to clean the Roomba out like every two days though.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF : Oz has reddish hair and we have medium tone parquay floor. Last week around 5ish we opened the front door and it let the light come in at just an angle that revealed alllllll of the hair everywhere. He's shedding a bunch because he's getting his winter coat now. I gasped in amazement/embarrasment and quickly pulled out the shop vac!!! :) I couldn't believe how much was everywhere. I decided that I need to clean at that time of day from now on!

My dog is husky/sheppard/lab mix and sheds EVERYWHERE lol, we have a phrase that "dog fur is a condiment in our house" It doesn't matter how often I vacuum or swiffer, his fur is always flying around.

  • I want a great dane.
All I need is a bigger house, and double my paycheck to feed her.

She will be grayish, her name will be Gypsy, and she will ride in the Jeep with me in the passenger seat.

    Nothing wrong with dreaming, right?

I can't see a dog that large being happy with no room to run and play.  But I could be wrong.  I haven't read up a lot on the breed, and that's something I plan on doing before getting one.

It's not to say that they don't need exercise, because they certainly do. It's just that they're mostly inactive indoors. I've never owned a Great Dane, but I wanted one for a while, so I did some research. Anyway, they're supposedly completely fine in an apartment all day, so long as you take them on long walks. Or have a bigger fenced yard.

  • Yup, my friend lives in an apartment, and her neighbor has a Great Dane. They're big, but they're not high-energy. I mean, if you live in a studio, you probably don't physically have room for one, but if you live in a normal-sized apartment and are just worried about exercise, it could be doable.
