It's been cold here for the Deep South; mid teens at night, barely freezing during the days. It is supposed to be colder all this next week. So I went out today to get some pipe insulation and spray foam to use in my daughter's bathroom. We had a problem last year with a frozen pipe that burst, so I wanted to get them insulated before we had a problem again this year (nothing like waiting until the last minute). I tried to turn off the shut-off valve that goes to the external tap, and it was frozen. A quick hit with a hairdryer thawed it enough to turn it off, but it hadn't busted the pipe. Talk about good timing!
