Change middle name to honor father that recently passed?

I don't know where to post this & would really love your opinions. My Dad passed away about a year ago. I'm ready to apply for my marriage license & was thinking about changing my middle name to Dani, my Dad's name is Dan. Does this seem weird to anyone or does it seem understandable? To me this would be my way of honoring him & I was very close to him. Thank you.

    If you're changing your last name to your FI's, why not keep your maiden name as your middle name.  It could be a way of honoring your dad AND keeping the surname you were born with at the same time.

    My father passed away in 2004. I have decided to change my middle name (Marie) to my maidien name (Silva).  In science, your last name is important for publishing so keeping my last name as my middle name is a good compromise for me rather than hyphenation.  I am also planning to honor my dad on my wedding day  by having his picture in a locket with the boquet so he can "walk me down the aisle".     I think its a neat idea to include your fathers first name in your name. I understand why you are thinking his first name rather than a sirname, it is so much more personal. Go for it!

    Thanks for all your thoughts. To some, this may seem personal, however, I felt it was just fine to see what others thought of it. Weddings are personal too, aren't they :)

    I think it would be fine. However, in some states, you'll need to go to court to get your middle name changed. For example, I know in NY, you can ONLY change your last name when you get married. So definitely look into laws in your area.

    you have to do whats right for you, but i wanna ask to see your opinion on my thoughts.... wouldn't it be honoring your dad by keeping the name he and your mother gave to you?  I honestly hate my name and it causes me problems daily. but i've never changed it because it is/was important to my parents.
