The couponer in me wants to buy this dress now!

I haven't been too concerned about my dress, just looking around online & in magazines is all I've really done so far. I found one I really like about a month ago, but I haven't tried it on or anything. Well, I just went to the David's Bridal website to look at it again & it's on sale for $200 off (now $300). I really need to save money & I really want to take advantage of the sale, but I don't have $300 at the moment to buy it... Does anyone know/think it will go on sale again at some point? I'm not getting married until July 2012, but if I can get it for this price now, I'm going to have a hard time paying full price later on.

  • Out of curiosity, which dress is it? I have noticed that when they start discounting the dresses in that price range so sharply, they may be discontinuing the style. I would see if you can at least go and try it on and ask if they plan on discontinuing it. If they aren't, DB runs sales all the time and it will definitely be going on sale again. If you honestly can't afford it, then you can't.
  • theres their credit card. i know i know but hey lol.

  • The dress is style # WG3045, I'm definitely going to try it on today or tomorrow. If they end up saying they're discontinuing it, then I'll probably end up applying for their credit card, or layaway. Thanks so much for the tips!

  • It seems to me like buying it on a credit card and paying interest would defeat the purpose of buying it on sale to save money.

  • Doesn't DB have a layaway option?  I'm not sure how it works or if there is interest that accumulates or anything.  I agree that putting on the credit card will defeat the purpose of saving money.  But if there is no interest on layaway, definitely go that route.

  • We went to DB.  My mom dosen't have perfect credit, and she was given 1500 in credit.  We ended up getting my dress somewhere else, though.  :D

If you can get the credit, could you pay off the dress before your first payment, so that way you won't have to pay extra on it?

  • Definitely if I ended up using credit to buy the dress I would pay it off within 1-2 months so I wouldn't have to pay interest! It's good to know that they seem lenient with credit too, thanks blahblah! : ) I'll probably end up using layaway, I read that you get 60 days to pay it off & they just need a 25% deposit, so it sounds like I can definitely do it! Thanks so much everyone!

  • For that price drop it is definitely being discontinued. Get it while you can.

I bought my dress a year in advance and now it is discontinued and a ton cheaper. Oh well.

  • Just be careful about getting a dress because its not as expensive! Make sure you are in love. I got a dress because it was on sale, but I wasn't in love. I had seen and tried on my dream dress already.. Now I have two wedding dresses! =)

that's a GREAT price, but as other posters have suggested...please go and try it on first. It's amazing how different a dress looks on you compared to a photo of a model.  If you do buy it... stop looking at dresses!  So many women have purchased multiple dresses because they keep trying on more and see another they like better.  That kind of defeats the purpose of buying a dress on sale :)  Good luck!

[QUOTE]Layaway sounds perfect for you.  Go try on that dress! PS.<strong> Don't buy your veil or underwear there.  It is ridiculously overpriced.

Agreed. Given that you're on a budget, ValuVeil will be your best bet :)
  • My appointment is in 2 hours, I'm super excited! I have a really good feeling about today! I already have my veil actually, because I'm wearing my mom's. : ) But thank you for the tip, I have a friend who's getting married & I will definitely tell her about ValuVeil! You ladies have been great, so glad I have a place I can come to for such awesome advice!
