Hotel 71 vs. Dana Hotel and Spa - Which one...?

Hi Ladies!  Question for the Chicago locals. We are coming to Chicago for a 3 night stay, from Mpls., the second weekend in July for the Dave Matthews Band musical festival deal.

Right now I  have 2 reservations booked, one at the Dana and one at Hotel 71, we originally booked the Dana but then I got a deal email for Hotel 71 at about the same price, a little less, so I booked that too, and now need to cancel one, lol.

Anyone know about these hotels and have a preference??  From what I read they are both in good locations and have pros and cons to both.

Any feedback would be AWESOME!  TIA!

    They are both really good choices! The rooftop at Dana hotel is super cool...not sure if Hotel 71 has a rooftop or other "perk" that is comparable...

    Haha, I wrote to you on the Mpls. board too, not sure if you saw that:)  Thanks for the response! 

    I know that's my thing, the rooftop deck, but we would save $60 total ($20 per night) at 71, however it's not the river view rooms that look like they have the cool view.

    I know it will probably be fine either way though I'm sure.  Thinkin we'll still with Dana.  Thanks again!

    Then again, we aren't going to be all dressed up when we go to the shows, think jeans and DMB tshirt, or maybe a nicer top, but still jeans.  I suppose we could change after the shows and head to the rooftop bar, but not sure what time we'll get back.  I say this as it looks like there is a dress code.  We could check out the bar in the afternoon though maybe.

    Anyways, just talking outloud:)

    LOL...yeah. You could also just stay at 71 and still go to the rooftop bar at Dana one night haha.

    Hotel 71 will put you closer to the DMB music festival site I believe.  In addition, there should be cheaper parking around Hotel 71 as compared to the Dana.  It is a nice hotel and bigger than the Dana.

    I thought of that too!  71 has a somewhat newer restuarant, Hoyt's that is said to have a nice patio area that overlooks the river I guess.

    $60 is a dinner ya know, but Dana looks more modern/has the bar.  Whatevs, we'll just pick one and stick to it, our main focus is DMB anyways:)

    I'd do Hotel 71.  I've had friends stay there and it's really nice.  You'll be closer to DMB and you could also go to Roof bar (the rooftop bar at the Wit hotel), which is literally like 3.5 blocks from Hotel 71.

    Thanks everyone, much appreciated, sold, canceling Dana and going with 71!  Especially since it's closer to getting to DMB as it sounds like it may be a looonng train ride.
