Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Unity ceremony song

For our uniyt ceremony we are tying a sailor's knot, as well as each of us taking a flower from one vase, and giving it to each other's mom as a symbol of joining families. While there will be some talking, there will also be some dead time as we tie the knot and hand over the flowers, so I'd like a song to fill in those moments.

Originally we had decided on "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles, but I'm not in love with the idea.

I also considered "Good Life" by OneRepublic but so little of it outside the chorus is really appropriate.

I'm just not sure what to do, and would appreciate some suggestions. I would like for it to be upbeat but slow-tempo enough that it can be talked over if needed.

Re: Unity ceremony song

  • We are thinking of having a quartet play "Butterfly Waltz" during our unity ceremony. That is such a pretty song. It's slow-tempo and gorgeous but I'm not sure it's upbeat/modern enough for you guys.

  • I also am having a hard time figuring out what to have playing for our Unity Candle part. It is not that long of a time to play a whole song but i don't know what to do????
  • There's a song called "Parents Prayer" that is often done during the unity candle (or whatever you use to symbolize that).  I'm having my sisters sing that during that time.
