Well here it is…the last post. When Garrett and I first met over 7 years ago…it took about a year for me to realize that I truly was in love with this man and wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. We have had our shares of ups and downs, but we never broke up. We have always been open and honest with our relationship from day 1. And because of that, it has made us so strong for 7 years.
Nothing can prepare you for when your man actually gets down on his knee and says the phrase you’ve been waiting forever to hear. Everything I ever wanted for my wedding was thought out about year 3 of us dating…but the moment we got back home from vacation…reality set in. I can’t afford my dream wedding!! Haha. I always wanted to get married in March…but with an August proposal, I realized I didn’t want to rush the 7 months…so we decided on October, which goes against everything I ever wanted – hello…HURRICANE season!? Hehe…but again…reality. It all worked out because I have now joined an elite group called the 10.10.10 brides!
These 14 months have been one crazy ride. I had my share of stressful days and fun days! You all know everyone will be pulling you from all different angles to do the right thing….the right thing is pick what you and your fiancé want!! It is your wedding, no matter who is helping you pay for it. I definitely agree with Karen when she said to not wait on things…take care of things sooner rather than later…so you are not rushing at the last minute! I spaced everything out…sometimes I slacked off..but in the end I had my sh!t together and organized. Ladies, please do your research on everything! Don’t settle. The world wide web is your best friend during your wedding planning. There is ALWAYS a cheaper price out there. You just need to be patient and find it! That is where you amazing knotties come into place. Its hard to talk weddings with your friends…they can only handle so much. And really…do you think they care that I found an amazing deal on a stamp for my invites?! Only KNOTTIES would care! I remember when I first came on…someone asked about photographers…I saw some I never heard of….I guess Google doesn’t always have the answer. That is how I started my addiction to The Knot. Garrett had my routine down pat the last 6 months….come home, walk Sasha, change, boot up computer, turn on facebook, turn on the knot. It’s an obsession really. I HATED that I couldn’t type on my iphone!
I encourage you all to attend bridal showers. Some of us are living proof that you can actually win something there! I have won a few prizes throughout the year. Enter all bridal contests online! What have you got to lose! Sure they will email you everyday until days before your wedding…just hit delete! You all are doing a great job with the facebook contests! Take it from me…it is HARD work…it was a full time job recruiting votes for that photobooth contest that I ended up winning. What an amazing feeling. I loved having my knottie support system…you don’t want to mess with a knottie! We all know what happens if someone crosses over into our community board! Haha
Karen – You are an amazing women. I admire someone who lives with their FIL without their finance for 6 months! More power to you! I’m so glad I have been able to see your planning blossom and become everything you want it to be. My brother asked me the other day how you were doing! (he got you the Mets and Boston postcards, so he feels he is involved now with your wedding!) I wish you nothing but love and happiness as you start your new life in North Carolina or wherever you end up.
Lynette – We have chatted almost everyday on facebook for the last few months..thank you for all the advice and the venting you have listened to. You and PJ have true love and I know these next few months will be hard with him away, but after 11 years, you guys have nothing on this long distance thing! I wish you many years of continued happiness with PJ and can’t wait to see the pictures on your wedding day.
Gabi – Your accent is what first attracted me to you! I’m so glad I have been able to swap ideas/notes/comments on all our wedding planning things!
