Can we talk music for a minute??

I have most of my music squared away, but the one that I just can't seem to figure out is the 'bridal party entrance' song.... I know the song FI and I are being announced to, but wanted  different one for the BP entrance.... so my question is - what are you ladies planning for entrance music? What about the rest of your music selections? I feel like we did this a while back but could be wrong... so sorry if it's a repeat!

    OMG! I was so excited to open this b/c I thought you were going to talk about ceremony music and I just talked to my cousin who is going to play the piano for the precessional and recessional.

    No idea on entrance songs yet... :( I'm no help. Music stresses me out. I think we may have them enter with a Star Wars theme music, you know, b/c we're cool like that. :)

    All I can think of is somewhat lame songs... "Let's Get it Started", "Here We go!", that song played at hockey games... "Hey!", I suck.

    Ugh! Music stresses me out too!!! We're going to go over our ceremony music this weekend with my Aunt who will be singing. Unfortunately for me though, we have to select ceremony music from a CD that St Paul's sent us.... so mine will be all 'church music' -- what were you thinking for your ceremony?!?! That is awesome that your cousin is playing the piano!! :)

    Oh and do you think it's cheesy to have the Rebrandts 'I'll be there for you' (Theme from Friends) as the BP entrance?!? Friends is, quite possibly, my all time favorite show! Ha! Not sure how it would go over with FI though - we have VERY different taste in music!!

    Please, please, please don't pick Black Eyed Peas. That song is SO overused for BP entrances!

    Personally, we used the theme to the Chicago Bulls. No reason for it. I didn't have any ideas when I met with our DJ and that was what he instantly thought of. He brought it up so I could listen and I went with it. It was a song that played for about a minute or so, so I wasn't really too picky about it. It worked out. But it may not be your style. We used the Pens theme for our entrance, so I suppose it sort of fit.

    G- Not cheesy at all!! FI and I joke that we are going to have "The Office" Theme song (not sure if you watch this or not)....I think he's only half kidding though...  :(  LOL

    I think Let's get it started is kinda overdone myself...Eventhough I have a while I've been thinking about this lately. I think I'm just gonna pick something uptempo and fun--not necessarily something u hear played all the time.

    I like the Friends theme idea - but i also am a huge fan of that show. DF would turn me down for sure for that idea..

    We have not even come close to agreeing on any of our music selections... for anything.. but for the bridal party entrance song I'm going to want something thats pretty current and that would be fun to dance too.. so like usher's "DJ got us falling in love" or that hands in the air song that i can't think of the name to right now.

    Oh yeah, I totally agree that 'let's get it started' and 'tonight's gonna be a good night' are WAY overdone! I want something fun and upbeat, but a bit out of the ordinary...

    I was originally thinking taio cruz - dynamite but not sure if it's too overdone... decisions, decisions...

    We are coming in to Steelers renegade because we're obvi huge Steeler fans.

    I love the idea of Beatles All you Need is Love... even though I'm sure it's overdone. We are going to have our piano player play that on the way out of the church.

    All of the Lights by Kanye is pretty good. And is current and would fit?

    I think we will do something Led Zepplin... because that my FI's favorite band of all time and he wants its played at some point. I chose all the other songs, so he can have his pick for that one :-)

    Just do something fun and something that suites you guys and your personalities!

    The bridal party walked in to Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, and we walked in to Shipping Up to Boston by Dropkick Murphys.  We just picked music that we liked and was upbeat.  It really only plays for a short period of time.

    Edit:  AND the Black Eyed Peas were entirely banned from the whole reception.  So much hate.

    I think the cheesier and funnier the better! Maybe we'll do a Boston song, FI loves him some Boston.

    Agreed BEP are WAY too over played. I believe i will also be banning that song.

    Must play list, so cheesy, but must be played: Footloose and Strokin', Strokin' more of an end of the night song, but it MUST be played.

    These aren't current popular songs, but they're kind of different... our parents and BP walked in to the Star Trek theme song, and DH and I walked into the Olympic theme song.

    I'm just getting caught up on these conversations and am laughing at the back and forth of everyone. Awesome! We are using Poison, Nothing but a good time for bridal party and parents. And we are coming in to AC/DC Have a drink on me. We like the intros and they fit us. And I think they compliment each other and are fun! Sounds like they are a bit different from what you guys are thinking but figured I'd share!

    Now I am totally torn.  Love this idea....but also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Friends idea.  Friends is hands down my favorite show of all time.  The running joke is that instead of starting conversations with "This one day at band camp", I say "Oh, on that episode of Friends where....".

    We have barely started thinking music except we have added a few songs to our DJs online "Do Not Play" list.  There will be no Chicken Dance, no macarena or any line dance. 

    At the church, the only thing we know for sure is that my FI's niece (she's 10) will be playing the bridal march on the piano for us.  She gave us a preview a few weeks ago...too adorable. 


    Pittsburgh September Siggy - Our honeymoon will be at the Royal Suites Turquesas in P*nta Cana. Super excited!

    I have no idea why DJs even have these songs to play anymore. They should be banned from all weddings. But thats just my opinion I guess.

    My fiance wants our entrance song to be good vibration by marky mark...I'm not sure about that. I would love to put the electric slide on my do not play list, however when I mentioned that to my mom she was so upset!  I think the older audiance really looks forward to these songs.  I might let one slide through...just one though.

    I don't know, my dad was really upset that we didn't do the Chicken Dance-- it wasn't on the do not play list, I just didn't have it as a must play and no one requested it.  I think they did the Electric Slide at some point (pretty sure I was outside).

    I was just in a friends wedding two weeks ago and they played both the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey...not gonna lie - it was super fun, and literally everyone from the super young kids to older adults were on the dance floor.  For any Golden Girls fans - they had the bridal party walk in to Thank You For Being A Friend :)  Thanks for getting this discussion going - lots of things to think about!
