Hey, girls
Ever since NaNoWriMo began and my latest temp job came to an end, I've been so immersed that I haven't done anything except write! But I wanted to drop in, say hello and tell you all:
I'M ENGAGED!!!!
Yesterday was our 2-year anniversary, and BF took me out to dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant. We'd agreed on no presents, but of course we broke that rule. My gift was two tickets to go see "American Idiot" on Broadway (BF is a big Green Day fan), but I couldn't surprise him with those because I had to ask him when he had a day off.
Anyway, we were out to dinner and he said, "Can I give you your gift now?"
I said, "Gift? What gift? You're taking me out to dinner, this is your gift."
He said, "Let me give you your gift." He pulled out of his coat pocket a little jewelry box and I thought, Ah he's giving me a pair of earrings or something. He put it on the table in front of me and I went to go open it. He put his hand on top of mine as if to say, not yet.
"What are you doing?" I said.
He just smiled and said, "I love you so much."
"I know, I love you too. What are you doing?!"
And then, he opened the box, and there was the ring!!!! He said, "Will you marry me?" and I swear to God, I couldn't speak! He repeated the question and alI could do was nod! Then he put the ring on my finger. I was totally, completely surprised. He utterly threw me off guard. He kept me thinking that he was going to propose in St. Lucia in Februrary, but I was dead wrong. I nearly screamed in the middle of the restaurant!
Once the initial shock wore off, I said, "Oh, I can't wait to tell Meredith" (who is my best friend).
BF said, "Uh..."
"Oh, I see. Meredith already knows, doesn't she?" I said. BF nodded. "Ok, who else knows?"
Then he rattled off a list of about a dozen people who already knew, including his parents and sister! I swear, that boy cannot keep a secret.
Here's the eye candy for you all:
It's white gold and diamonds. It was designed by BF's great-aunt who is a jeweler. She created the ring especially for me. The diamonds are kind of raised up but my camera takes crap pictures so I'll take more using BF's when he gets home.
The center stone belonged to BF's great-grandmother, it's 80 years old! Apparently it was being saved for BF to give to his fiancé - and that just happened to be me ![]()

Re: Hey Guys! Guess What?!
But he's your FI now! No longer your BF.

RIGHT!!! Hahaha that'll take some getting used to!!
Also, I wanted to add that I told FI (aahh!!) that he was a big jerk because now there was no way I could ever top him in the gift department. I said, "I got you tickets to see 'American Idiot' and you gave me an engagement ring! That is NOT FAIR!!!" xD
BTW - how did you like "American Idiot?" I saw it in April, and Green Day happened to give an impromptu performance after the show.
GPB - We haven't seen "AI" yet; we're going on the 18th. We got $20 tickets through my old college and thanks to a friend pulling some strings (as an alumni I'm not entitled to those tickets, but he managed to get two for me). I hear it's pretty amazing! Lucky you getting to ACTUALLY see Green Day! Billie Joe Armstrong did a 10-day run as St. Jimmy last month and boy was I jealous that I missed that!!!

Yeah, my friend saw it with Billie Joe and said he was great. I LOVED it, so if you like Green Day (and esp. that album) you'll love it too. One of my friends has seen it seven times.

</div><div>Congrats!!!! That is a really cute story! :)
</div><div>Don't worry. My mom proposed to my dad again at one of the dinner shows in Disney when we were there (they went there on their honeymoon). Before the show my dad came up to me all excited because he had just bought her this cute bridal Disney pin and planned on giving it to the cast members to present during this married couples dance. I knew that my mom had a ring for him at that point, but obviously couldn't say anything. My dad's face when my mom asked him to marry her again was priceless and the cast member following it up by saying "And he got you this.. commemorative pin!" made it perfect.</div>
