Wedding Woes

Why won't anyone RSVP?!

I'm feeling really frustrated. Our wedding isn't super-formal, so I made made the invitations say "RSVP via email" with my email address listed in order to make things easier on myself and everyone else. I know that prior to having save the dates/invites to send out, I didn't always have stamps and envelopes lying around, and I'd heard horror stories of people waiting forever to RSVP via post.

But apparently even this wasn't easy enough for the bulk of my guests. So far, a whopping TWO people have RSVP'd as I asked. I know a lot of them are coming, because they still talk to me as if they are! I have had to hound people, and it's annoying. I even posted a facebook status saying to RSVP in comment if you don't want to email, and one invited person LIKED it! That tells me nothing. I have to know the exact number of guests, and I just feel like I went out of my way to make this easy on people and they still couldn't put forth any effort.

I just needed to vent about this. Can anyone out there commiserate? Yell

    <div>people generally include a SASE or pre-stamped postcard in with invites.</div><div>
    </div><div>they're probably not responding because your wedding is still 2 months away, and your RSVP date is likely sometime in late may or early june. people wait until the last minute. or maybe they just don't like you very much.
    </div>
  • What was the date that you told them to RSVP by? I had a bunch of posted RSVPs come in within the week I sent out the invites. Many people I know are coming, but haven't sent theirs in yet. And there are others that I know I will end up calling three days after my set RSVP. It's frustrating waiting for a response, but once that RSVP date rolls by you get to call everyone to confirm.
  • Yes, it is so frustrating.  Start emailing people and then pick up the phone the following week to hunt people down.

    <div>Fair enough, I may have been kind of clueless as to the pre-stamped postcard thing, but the last sentence of your post was pretty uncalled for. </div><div>
    </div><div>Anyway, my RSVP-by date is May 20. I'm sure I'll get it all figured out by then. </div>
