1 photographer vs. 2

Hello!
So I am getting ready to make my photography decisions (thank you all for the great recommendations). Because I am going for an independent photographer I just assumed I would get one. However, from what I hear about ceremony angles and time it is better to get 2.

How many photographers are you having?
P.S. I am not having a videographer...so I can see why I may need 2 during the ceremony...but is it really necessary??

most of the photographers will have a 2nd shooter. Ask the person you've decided on if they have set 2nd shooters or hire freelance photogs.
    We're having 2 plus a videographer.

We're having two photographers, no videographer. From the photographers I met with, almost all of them included a 2nd shooter in their packages.

We also have 2 photographers and a videographer.  I don't know that I would have sought out/required a second photographer, but I am happy that our photographer's package included it.  I didn't think that I wanted a videographer until I saw another knottie's wedding highlight video...we ended up hiring her videographer and I couldn't be happier or more excited with our decision!

We are having 2 photographers. I think it just think it makes for nicer photos. One will be with FI as he gets ready and one with me. I'm hoping with 2 photographers who work together so closely, they will really capture some unique shots we might not otherwise have.

We only had one photographer and it worked out fine.  We didn't have a professional videographer, but my uncle recorded the ceremony and gave us a DVD, which was good enough for us and helped save money.

If you're considering to having one photographer, I'd draft up a list of your must-take pictures.  Send it to your photographer and discuss it.  Ask their opinion if they're comfortable that by themselves they can get all of the shots or if they recommend a 2nd.

We had two photographers but I think that one would have been fine.  There was a noticeable difference in quality between our main photographer's shots and the second shooter.  If I had to do it again and a second photographer cost extra I'd skip it and put the money towards something else.

we're going w just 1.  after talking w her, it was an option to add one on, but i just dont know that its necessary.  we're expecting 150 and i think that 1 photographer will be plenty (as did she).  no videographer - or at least not yet - looking into some.  i looked at it as we can certainly allocate that money somewhere else in the long list of costs.  :)
