Halfway there!

Good Morning!

How is everyone?

I made bbq muffin meatloaf(kind of like the recipe posted yesterday except I used Liquid smoke instead of salsa) and homemade mashed potatos, and green beans& mushrooms w/ butter and balsamic vinegar, it was super yummy!

H's last christmas present came in the mail yesterday, and I got it wrapped so i'm officially done except for the present I have to get for work.

How was everyones night?

Re: Halfway there!

  • Morning! Subbing went well yesterday, learned the ropes so that was nice. They called this morning, but I'm taking my mom to a doctor apt and we're going to do some final Christmas shopping.

What did you get our H? FI is getting like 10 smaller gifts- I couldn't think of anything large. He doesn't want for anything.

Oh! So the dance studio I work for put on a Christmas Showcase- very informal show where the kids danced and we raised $2500 for a local soup kitchen! My students were fabulous :)
  • Morning. I have what I'm pretty sure is a sinus infection/the beginnings of strep. I couldn't stay home from work though because of a meeting this afternoon (which of course is at the very end of the day) and my supervisor doesn't really care what's wrong with us, if we have a meeting like this, we better show up. So, here I am at my desk, with burning lungs and an exploding head. I'm waiting on my Orange Tea to finish brewing so at least my throat can maybe feel a little better.

Brittany, I'm done with gift shopping too! I'm waiting on two of H's gifts to be delivered and then once they are wrapped, I'm done!

  • Good morning ladies! I'm almost done my shopping, just need to finish FI's stocking. I really try to get good stuff for stockings, not just junk but that can be challenging sometimes! Just had my morning session cancelled, poor little dude has an ear infection. I feel bad for his mom who is taking him to the walk in clinic, unfortunately those places aren't very understanding about autism. Too late to go back to bed, so I'm planning a productive morning instead. FI was feeling sick last night, I'm hoping it hasn't morphed into a full on man cold over night!

I Got H a Blu Ray DVD player w/ wi-fi so we can watch netflix in both rooms now. :) I also got him some little things, i'm a good clearance shopper, he got some new outfits, a few dress shirts, *christmas boxers* it's a tradition, he gets boxers for every holiday! lol, We also have the tradition to get each other ornaments, and I stuffed his stocking iwth socks, candy, and a few other little things, :)

Thats awesome about the soup kitchen! they will appreciate it!

haha oops :) though have you seen that show? I've watched it and I think it's pretty interesting. I'll even admit I bought and read their book. They seem like genuinely kind people.

Edie- take the time off! You have nothing to feel guilty about! You'll enjoy the time to regroup yourself after the holidays.
  • Thanks, all. Brittany, it's going around something fierce here, too (university town so something is always going around).

I am embarrassed to admit how much I look forward to watching Sister Wives when I get home on Mondays (I DVR it). Not because I like the family - I find Kody to be a DB and his wives are so sheltered - but because it's just so fascinating. It's so different than the life I live so I just find it very interesting.

Edie, you should take the time off!

  • I agree about sister wives! I can't help myself, I just don't 'get' it so I keep watching, LOL

I think this is how I feel. Definitely sheltered, but I don't find them to be the "bad people" that sometimes non-supporters make them out to be.

  • Morning!

I'm off to a math final, have 1 paper to write, and then I'm done for the year. Hallelujah!

I'll be back in a bit. I'll likely spend the day listening to my present from the best H ever: http://tinyurl.com/dym24d6
  • We have a meeting with our mortgage consultant tonight- i'm nervous...

and work is boring today - bleh.

  • Ooh, Anna, how pretty!

I took my dog to training last night, and after two weeks she is done with level one! We get to start level two tomorrow. I'm also thinking about signing her up for doggie daycare while we're gone for the holidays. My aunt will be staying with her, but I don't think she'll take her to the dog park or anything.
  • Good morning!

I walked to work this morning, only to have a half a dozen people ask me if the car in the ditch by the school is mine ... am I that bad of a driver??? lol

I've got testing pretty much all day, and now I'm rolling coin for our annual fundraiser. Each homeroom has a bucket, and the goal is to fill it with pennies or loonies. Any silver coin gets 'deducted' from your total, so people go from class to class, sabotaging other buckets. It's all in fun and ALL of the money goes to a good cause. This year it's for one of our students. She's just been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment. She'll be living away from her family until at least April, and she has three brothers/sisters. A hard time for the family.

    Happy final exam, Anna!

  • My meeting got cancelled and my boss took one look at me and just said, "Go. Home." Apparently I really do look like shi!t. I don't even care because I'm going home to sleep this shii!it off (hopefully).

    Have a great day, ladies.

  • Edie- That was the opposite of my dog the first week. She was perfect at home, but as soon as we got to the training she didn't want to do anything. There were 8 dogs in the class, and she just wanted to play with all of them. Last night I got her these little treats called Composure, and they're filled with pheromones or something that calmed her down. Technically I gave them to her too late (like taking a sleeping pill the second you want to fall asleep, instead of an hour before so it has time to get into your system) but I noticed a difference.

and Jenny, when I lived close enough to walk to work, whenever I did people assumed I was having car trouble or had left my car at the bar the night before. Now I live close to a local winery and walk there when I meet up with friends and they assume I'm planning on drinking too much to drive home. Silly people don't get that walking is nice sometimes!
  • Anna - So pretty!
missunshine - so cool about the show!
jenny - that sounds like a fun contest!

We took McFly to obedience school weekly for a year, and he's so well behaved now. Still impulsive, but overall very obedient. When I get busy during tax season he goes to day care 1-2 times a week so I don't have to worry about exercising him.

I am writing a customer complaint letterfor the first time in 4 years today. I have had to many problems with MyPublisher with our Christmas cards. They openly admitted to me on the phone that the problems they were having were on their end, and didn't have a solution and didn't offer to pay for rush shipping if I recreated the cards and reordered them. I was so livid, but I'm not going to get mad at the call operator. That poor girl has no control to fix it (to my knowledge).

Last night we went to see Jekyll and Hyde featuring Constantine, haha. It was pretty good, but probably won't crack my top 5.
OH and remember a few weeks ago when I said I was stalking a photo blog and saw my ex and his new fiance? He was THERE last night. In a theater, downtown, in the 7th biggest city in America, on a random Tuesday night show. What are the freaking odds???
Good luck Brittany! dtb, my parents took their dog to training. He does everything at her place, but seems to forget it as soon as he walks out the door lol. Even if my parents work with him. I think they gave up. He's pretty well behaved so I guess they don't care.
Good morning! Shay, I hope you feel better very soon. MissSun, that's great about your students and the money they raised! I keep trying to convince my H not to exchange gifts this year. He's not buying it. I have great leftovers today. I made an alfredo pasta with chicken, broccoli, & mushrooms. Yum.
    Posted by jcbsjr
H tries this every year. He truly does not want anything; which makes him very hard to shop for.

I'm more than 3/4 through with shopping. Rest are gift cards and money. Now I have to ship some things off to FL and CO.

My fiber optic tree gave up on the optics. H is out looking at trees since we really really do not want to drag the big one down from the attic. Last year we did because my mom was here over the holidays, but this year will be very low key.

Shay, rest rest rest. Brit - good luck tonight.

They really don't. When I started walking to work, I had four people stop and offer me a ride. Now that I've spread the word that I'm walking regularly, they've stopped, but knew I drove yesterday because of the storm, and thought it might have been my car. It's still a mystery as to who owns it.

Shay, feel better. I find sleep is the best cure.

I don't watch Sister Wives. I'm all about How I Met Your Mother, BBT and BBCs Top Gear. Odd mix, I know.

  • We watch Chicago Fire, SVU, Criminal Minds. Separate from H, I like to watch Doc Martin, Mike & Molly, Dateline, and Private Practice.
  • Morning!!
I'm working a half day today - it's my brother's wedding at 3 today (this is the one I've talked about on E quite a bit, that has involved lots of family drama). Frankly, I just can't wait for this day to be done. He had the rehearsal dinner on Monday and my parents went (I wasn't invited), yesterday, they had us (FI, my daughter and myself) over for dinner and all I did was hear about the RD. I'm so done with it.

Tomorrow is my work holiday party, it's at a new venue in Seattle and should be pretty fun.

  • We watch, SVU, Criminal minds, BBT, SVU, The Voice(did anyone see last night, i'm dissapointed!!!)
    image
  • My guilty pleasure show is Teen Mom 2. Even FI and my 7 year old daughter watch it with me. It's kind of funny.

JCB - yep. I wasn't invited to the bachelorette party either, though my other sister was (and it was blasted all over FB)...so, yes, lots of family drama. I'm just going and putting on my happy face and not planning on staying too late as I have work tomorrow. It's taken a lot to convice FI to come with me, but he's doing it for me and is not happy about going.

I thought I posted about it in E a while ago. I'm not sure...but yes, I wasn't invited. I'm just ready for the whole thing to be done.

My mom also said that everyone will go outside after the ceremony so they can flip the room. I asked if it was a cocktail hour and she said no. Thus, we'll be standing outside (in Seattle = rain), waiting for the room to be changed. Should be interesting....
