It's WP Tuesday Night!

Re: It's WP Tuesday Night!

  • I think cooking or cake decorating classes would be fun too. THere's a girl on my clib board who is in culinary school and she is doing her pastry rotation now. I don't see how she is still so skinny because she bakes every day.

Stina, you could take up a sport, besides dancing, of course. Or you could take more dance classes if you are interested. Volunteering is also an awesime use of non-working time. I bet you can fill your days pretty easily!

  • We arent doing the money dance, which is entirely acceptable and expected in both our circles. We just don't like the idea of it. My dad may insist and bribe the DJ, but I told him we weren't planning on it. It won't be the end of the world, but it is not our preference.

Also, no tosses. Everyone but my little sister and 1 invited friend are married. That would just be weird. Plus, I don't want my 14 yo step-nephew catching my garter. That would be weird x11

  • Why am I glad we didn't do tosses?

I really dislike them in general - and this way there was no breakup of the dancing!
  • Is it too weird if I say our 9 year old RB caught my garter?  Leaped about 6 feet in the air to do it.  For him it was about "winning" rather than "I've gotta catch the garter that was high on the bride's thigh", which I honestly don't think crossed his mind.

That's not weird at all for you, but I am just not comfortable with it. Our catchers would all be kids, and I hope by that time in the evening they are in the groom's dressing room watching a movie..

Volunteering is a great idea. As for cooking classes, I would love to take baking classes because I LOVE to bake. However, I think taking cooking classes would be better for my cooking self esteem. I have no ambition to cook and get nervous when DH is trying anything I cook.

I am glad we didn't do tosses either. I don't like making my single friends fight over flowers. I also don't like it when little kids catch it when there are tons of adult women. The adults feel like they have to win it but can't if the kids get it.

I am also glad we didn't do a bridal party dance. I have never seen one except for on Bridezillas it looks stupid...most ordinary people are not good at dancing choreographed dances. it just looks fake, everyone is uncomfortable, and the only person that really likes it is the bride.

Oooh and sports sounds like fun. I was just telling my mom the other day that since I have been watching the Olympics, I miss competing.

<div>God no!  He and his brothers are really competitive in sports and they looked at this as just another competition :)</div>

  • I also forgot to mention that I talked with a breeder yesterday and we're going to a dog show this weekend to meet her and see her dogs! So I will be busy with a doggie! So then again, this will be the cherry on top for quitting!

  • Stina, what kind of doggie?! So exciting.

We're not doing tosses either. I just think it breaks up the party and isn't fun.

I also have a venue spreadsheet. One of my friends informed me right after I got engaged that she didn't think I would be a bridezilla, just an organized-zilla. I'm kind of a freak about organization.

Sorry, I'm boring - it's late here (12:30, way past my bedtime!), and I'm finishing a couple things. With the wedding SOON and my dad arriving on Thurs, I'm pretty busy.
  • My friend who was a bridezilla was weirded out by how organized I was.....I too am an organizilla.

We're gonna get a westie! I know we could go the route of a rescue, but it's my first dog on my own and Dh and me have always had rescues as kids. I really like westies and can't wait to attend a dog show. I have no idea what to expect except I watched Best in Show this week....funny movie....

I just realized that my life sounds pretty awesome this week. I wish all my weeks were like this.

  • Our pup was a rescue (we literally took her off the street), but I don't think everyone needs to go that route. I think if you do your research and feel like a particular breed will fit your lifestyle and buy from a reputable breeder, it's a perfectly valid choice.

Ok, going to bed now. I was really just waiting to hear about the puppy :) But now I must sleep if I want to have a prayer of getting up and not hating my life tomorrow morning. Have a good night, everyone!
  • Stina, how exciting that you're getting a dog!

On that note though, I need to get to bed as well!

    Goodnight ladies!
  • When I get the pup, I'll definitely be AWing photos! The shoes will go dormant and you'll see his cute little pup face!

  • Ok, back.  We've been catching up on the DVR and just saw this week's Big Love.

On Brooke's question, I'm so glad we skipped the "who gives this woman" giving away thing.  I know it's rare anyway, but the priest mentioned it to me.  I would be really uncomfortable with something like that.

Also, I'm glad we skipped the whole "not living together until we get married" tradition.  We've been married 9 months, and the whole thing is great.  I've seen so many of my friends have pains in the transition into sharing, and I'm glad we got married with all of that behind us.
  • I'm gonna say g'night as well. See y'all tomorrow!
