Wedding Dress Seamtress/alterations

I bought my dress from David's Bridal and their alterations seem expensive(and I've heard horror stories).  I'm looking for someone else to do the alterations that's good and inexpensive.  Any recommendations around North/Central NJ.  I live near wyckoff and the Weddings in Basking Ridge, so preferably around there but I am willing to travel.

Also, when should I get my dress altered - the weddings in August and I want to lose some weight before getting it fitted.

Any help appreciated :)

    I'm getting married in July and just picked up my dress from David's Bridal.  I am also looking into a seamstress / alternations for my dress!  Have you had any luck? I'm looking into this Boutique called Brielle's Boutique in Dumont.  I'll let you know how what they tell me!
