Go to this restaurant in NYC- its so much fun- its a drag restaurant, in between meals there are performances and songs, they come    around look at your ring, ask you about your fiancee, lots of laughs and good food!

If you are into 80's music Joshua Tree is fun.  We went for my sisters b-party and had a blast.

I concur with Rachel, for mine we went to the Joshua Tree on third avenue (between 34th and 35th). It plays 80s and early 90s music all night. The best way to describe the bar is you know when you are any bar and your favorite song comes on and the whole bar is singing and dancing...that's this bar all night! We also got dressed up the day after and did brunch (or dessert) at Serendipity's in the city which was a blast, then hit Dylan's candy bar which is on the same block. They made me do a scavenger hunt in the city with all the NYC landmarks which was a blast too!

Idea I have thrown out for mine (some are crazy)
renting an RV and driving somewhere
going to Mohegan sun and playing bingo
going to Saratoga, NY for the weekend to lie by the pools they have in the park and gamble on race horses
Having cooking lessons at someones home
    Pole dancing lessons in NYC

Amy - what area are you looking in?  Somewhere in Jersey or NYC?  Are your people up for a road trip somewhere or no?  Perhaps a wine tour somewhere?  There are vieyards in LI and I think there are some in Jersey somewhere.  Perhaps you could rent a limo to drive you around.  It often is not as expensive as you would think.

It also sounds like a few of the girls aren't available during the day so it would be just an evening thing.  I guess either NYC or NJ would be best.  I just wanted to do something a bit different. That wine tour sounds great though!

If you could get everyone together in the afternoon there is this place in NYC that offers wine tastings

If you had a large enough group maybe they would even do a privite tasting at night.

Agree with the others who want to know what you're looking for.  Is there a reason that the original idea was "just dinner" rather than dinner and drinks?  (Meaning, do you not drink?  Do others not drink?  Do you need to be home early?)

Where are you going?  Is it definitely NYC?  Or NJ?  Or somewhere else?

Why was spa idea thrown out?  Too expensive?  Too early in the day?  People just don't like spas?

What kinds of things do you like to do generally?  Do you want something laid-back? Upscale?  Do you want to do the typical rowdy/raunchy bachelorette party things?  If the party will be in NYC, do you mind going to places that are touristy/that people who live in NYC wouldn't go to?  How old is the crowd?

A friend of mine went to dinner and to the Slipper Room for hers. That might be a place you'd want to check out for something different.

The original idea I proposed a few months ago when we were just talking about it was a spa thing during the day and then maybe dinner and drinks out.  It was meant to be a surprise but one BM talked to me about it yesterday b/c she felt that the girls should have told me that they couldn't afford the spa.  Some of my BMs are already married so they aren't really into drinking much.  I like to go out and drink occasionally so I was looking forward to this night out with all my best friends.

We were going to go out in Hoboken b/c that is where I used to live.

I just wanted to do something different.  I actually don't live in NJ and I am coming down just for this night out so I thought just dinner was so ordinary.

The crowd is mostly in their late 20s or early 30s with the exception of my MOH who is 40 and her daughter who is 11.  I wanted to include them in something hence the daytime ideas too.

Maybe I am being to picky and should just go with the flow.  Just trying to look for other options...

Mine will be a year away (and hopefully in Vegas if we can all save enough haha), but Ive been to a few around here. Depends what you are into, but we did a weekend to AC. You could do a day trip- take a limo or just drive down, do a cheap mani/pedi or lay on the beach, gamble, drink, and stay over or come back the same day. If you dont stay over, it really isnt bad price wise- plus if you gamble (or pretend to gamble) you get free drinks :)

One we went to the Culture Club in NYC which is all like 80s music and fun

Just doing dinner and then bar hopping around NYC or Hoboken can be a lot of fun- and it lets those who want to party more stick around and others leave after dinner or the 1st bar or two.

For my sister's to save on money (I was on a tight budget and felt bad asking the other BM for extra money) we had everyone have dinner at my parents (pizza, etc) then I made a ton of Jello shots and we brought those and some drinks in the limo (which for only a few hours was not a bad price) that way by the time we got to the city, we didnt need to drink that much, which saved on money too :)
