So a planetarium here in Minnesota has re-assessed zodiac sign assignments according to what the ancient Babylonians actually intended. Apparently, I'm not the Taurus I thought I was, nor is BF (or my BFF) a capricorn.
http://gawker.com/5732115/your-zodiac-sign-may-have-changed?skyline=true&s=iNot that I take zodiac signs and related lore totally seriously, but sometimes I think there are bits of truth here and there.
What do you all think?

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
[QUOTE]You don't see it? Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16. Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11. So Feb 16th people are Capricorn and Aquarius? I also apologize for the weird font.

OH. I thought you were referring to the fact that there's an extra zodiac sign near the end of the year. My bad. Yeah, I don't like that, either. Buuuut, apparently there's something in astrology called "being on the cusp," where if you're on the day right before or after the adjacent sign, it means stuff. I mean, this isn't so much an exact science. :)

my 2012 shelf:
I'm a Cancer either way, but traditionally I've been right on the cusp of being a Leo, and that list has me as an early Cancer. Not sure what, if any, significance they have.
Random: I would buy into astrology a lot more if your sign were based on your date of conception, not birth. It seems like that woudl work better to explain how the movement of the planets could affect your development and therefore your personality, but maybe that's just me.

I see where you're coming from. I tend to feel that once you get out in the world as a little baby, that's when you start developing a personality, though. I dunno, my pet theory of the moment is that seasons affect how your personality develops. But it's a pet theory and thus very unscientific. :)

Seasons actually kinda makes sense... light exposure influences a whole bunch of chemical processes, and that's different for every season. Interesting...

I've actually studied my Zodiac profile and I'm a Capricorn through and through! I'm not a Sagittarius, AT ALL!
I just started seeing this information popping up... but I've found articles that date back to 2007... http://www.livescience.com/strangenews/your-astronomical-sign.html
Apparently, due to the shifting alignment of the Earth & the Sun and the inability to count on the part of the Babylonians everything we ever knew about ourselves (astrologically) is in an upheaval! lol
All I know is, I refuse to be a Sagittarius!! and that alone makes me a true Capricorn! LOL Stubborn as hell!!
ETA: Marley - I agree with your seasons theory as well... I also believe that time of birth has an effect... I was born at 215 am and I HATE mornings... I much rather the late night hours... I was born in the winter and I absolutely hate the summer! So, there might be something to your theory!

I really want to test a few hypotheses now.
I'm going to write a survey and refer people to it. I shall publish the results if they are at all interesting.

[QUOTE]According to this I am now a Libra and no longer a Scorpio and <strong>FI is now a Gemini and no longer a Cancer.

Same for my BF... and he is nothing like a Gemini... I've dated Gemini's... they are a nightmare! lol
However, FI is a Gemini, but according to this he's a Taurus. That makes WAY more sense! xD
Life is good today.
Now scorpio is only 7 days....
(I don't really follow the zodiac, it was my old AIM sn back in the day and I couldn't think of anything else so it kinda stuck)
[QUOTE]I don't like it. It says I'm a Virgo. I'm a scorpio, damnsit! Now scorpio is only 7 days....

I totally agree! I am definitely a Scorpio. I have way too much sexy fun times to be a Libra <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

Until I read this:
"Librans too are among the most civilized of the twelve zodiacal characters and are often good looking. They have elegance, charm and good taste, are naturally kind, very gentle, and lovers of beauty, harmony (both in music and social living) and the pleasures that these bring."
I mean, who can argue with that???
