What'd everyone get done this past week? Anything planned for this week?
I actually ended up cancelling my bridesmaids dress shopping outing for this weekend. Four of my five girls cound't make it. Lame.
Semi wedding related... FI, myself and one of our closest friends and also groomsmen went to trivia last night at a local hotspot. The guy doing the trivia is our DJ. He was awesome and hilarious and totally got into it with all the teams. It further solidified our decision to go with him. And it got FI all excited and he was bragging to our friend about how cool the online playlist organizer he offers is and stuff like that. So that was really cool.
Re: Wedding Wednesday
NWR - We found an apartment, which is super exciting because the one we are in now is for sale and we needed to get out soon. So, at least now we have somewhere to live and can now focus on the wedding.
I am finally focused again on the wedding! (I'm actually entering a bit of panic mode because of the time is passing SOOOO quickly and I have barely anything done :S )

So now that I can finally focus on weddings, here is my to do list:
**Photographer (!) Again - I started before but seem to have lost my spreadsheet
**Wedding Dress - I found a gorgeous one online. It's new by Alfred Angelo and trying to find it in Canada is like a needle in a haystack. Might have to venture over the border to try it on (Yes, that's how much I want to try it on. It's so unique and pretty and looks like it'll flaunt my curves) I'll enclose a pic if you guys want as I'll grab it off the website.
(And yes, I still have to find my camera to DL the candy bar photos - I wish it had wifi!)
**To a small extent, I'm also searching out limo buses (I want a huge coach bus that has been converted into a limo. With our huge bridal party and I'm sure I'll have a 'poufy' dress, I don't want to be crawling in and out of a limo. I have FI almost convinced on this idea (and added cost) but I'll just keep reminding him of those few words he keeps saying to me (To get out of any wedding planning) "It's your day, so I want you to have what will make you happy" muahaha

Susie, congrats on the new digs!!
I have accomplished ZERO wedding stuff this past week, other than pricing some stuff for invites and save the dates online. All of our major vendors are booked, and frankly, I've just been too lazy to bother with anything else. I need to get back to it though, because our engagement pictures are next weekend. I've got my outfits picked out, but now I need to go through my fiance's clothes and figure out something for him to wear that won't totally clash.
[QUOTE]We are doing the church for that reason sparkles. It is much easier, no stress, the church takes care of everything and it's still pretty (and keeps his grandmother happy haha). I am an incredibly anxious control freak, so I know it would only be a source of stress having to worry about a ceremony elsewhere. Now as others mentioned, many places sort of specialize in outdoor ceremonies, so if you really want to do it, you can use the space somewhere else where they can be responsible for setup and such. But, I feel like this would be expensive, and the church would be a cheaper option (did I also mention I am stingy too? lol)

This made me laugh...we've definitely got this in common!!
[QUOTE] sss--what border do you live near, if you don't mind me asking? If you're near Windsor, I'm sure you can find something in or around Detroit! Same with Sarnia area... although not sure about bridal shops towards Port Huron, but I'm sure you could find it there. For all I know, you're near Minnesota or ND :)

Hey MrsKaiser,
I'm about the same distance from both the Niagara Falls border and the Windsor one so really, I can go to either (I'm just familiar with the Niagara area and not Windsor lol) (both are about a 2 hour drive for me, which I dont mind since I love to drive lol)
It's a new style dress so I hope some stores in the US have ordered (and hopefully received) them already. I was told at a place here it'll take them 8 months to get the sample in and that would be cutting it SUPER tight for me - especially for a dress I don't know if I will like ON me. That's why I don't mind crossing the border to try it on. My only thing is calling around will cost me alot in long distance lol. Maybe I can add a US LD pkg to my home phone (Another reason why I love the US - No long distance!!)

Sssdee -- it sounds like we could live near each other! I'm 2 hours away from the Niagara border as well. Do you know where Waterdown is? Sort of near Hamilton... They have a store called Coach House that sells a lot of Alfred Angelo dresses. I'd give them a call to see if they have the new line in yet. They were great for my friend's wedding dress, but don't go there for bridesmaid dresses - we've had a terrible experience.
ETA: I want to see a picture of the dress you like!
Below is what the dress looks like. It's just sooo different than what I am used to seeing and I like to be unique sometimes lol so I think thats why I am attracted to this dress. And it looks like it would be very flattering for my body type (hourglass and hopefully hide my pudge lol)

Saturday was FI and my first anniversary. After going to mass (which is really awkward for those of us who aren't Catholic) for his cousin's first communion and the party after, we went to Kay! We had Santa Savings money from him buying my engagement ring as well as a coupon in the mail. We got both of our rings and saved about $700 in total! Holy lot of money!
Also, my parents gave us the go ahead to book our venue. They're mailing the contract to us so we can send it back with out deposit check. I'm officially getting married on June 8, 2013 at Royale Orleans in St. Louis. I'm so excited!

haha I am also an incredibly anxious control freak! I actually got an email from my mom this week reminding me of this trait (which I got from her) and how sometimes we have to just have faith that things will work out!
As for WR I am going dress shopping this Saturday with my sisters, my mom, and my grandma (she's 81)! I'm nervous and excited at the same time! Other than that I have kind of taken a break from planning because my best friend is getting married in 24 days!
Negril, Jamaica!!
MrsK and cnf, your posts reminded me of this...
And Dee, that dress is gorgeous and I love the way it's styled with more edgy accessories.
Its kind of hard to explain, but our outdoor ceremony location is run by our reception venue, but they dont own it. Our ceremony location was to be a gazebo in a park behind the reception venue. Our reception venue rents it out, but it is owned by the township, so they cant set it up. But my reception venue is the backup option in case it rains. So we would have to do everything on our own. It didnt seem so bad at first- renting chairs, hiring an officiant. My control freak ways are starting to flare up though!
kplusa- I am in the same exact boat. I am being super lazy about finding a DJ. There are so many DJs in the Detroit area and I just dont know how to narrow it down to set up meetings, uh who has the nicest website?! I really need to just start setting up meetings and go from there, I have emailed several though who havent emailed me back. Congrats on booking stuff for the HM!
Thats so very exciting, and we are date twins!!! Way to go on securing your venue and saving a butt load of money on bands! We actually did a similar thing with this thingy he got from buying my ring over v-day. We still get these $50 off of $99 or more and well, I got his work ring (cheaper, not so bulky) for $49 and he got me a pretty necklace for $49 as well (I got things that were exactly $99 haha)
No real updates here, planning to make phonecalls for dress appointments tonight and send an e-mail to my venue to book a walkthrough.
We booked it in November when we were in Boston, but at that point the tent had been taken down so I want to see it when its up. Also, we're planning to bring our parents to see it since they will be in town with us. So exciting!
Starting to panic a little that I haven't done anything else (at least I know I'm not the only one) and its getting close to the 12 month mark...I guess it will all start kicking off now!
I finally got my quote from the caterer YAY! So I'm pretty sure we're going to use him, we just need to do a tasting first. I'm also in the process of making an appointment with a Justice of the Peace who married our friends so we like him. I've also been looking around for Save-the-Dates and found one I really like that FI also liked, he didn't like my last option very much lol.
[QUOTE]sssdee, you should check out Skype for your long distance calls! :

[QUOTE]I'm new to the boards (just got engaged 2.5 weeks ago!), but last week we booked our ceremony/reception venue and this past weekend and this week we've been meeting with photographers and narrowing them down. Hopefully sending in a deposit and contract by the weekend!
