Lip Primer - worth it?

Hi ladies,

I've gone back for 3+ months of posts, but didn't see anything with this topic.  MAC (and others) offer lip primers; are they worth using?  My MUA has me using a MAC lip pencil and lipstick, and as well as their gloss.

I use primers for eyelids as well as for foundation, so wasn't sure if I was missing the boat here!  Thanks in advance for your input!

    I would say no, but I've never tried it.  It just sounds like overkill.

    i think it really depends on what your putting on top of it, if you do a long last lipstick or stain, I don't think it's nessecary, I've used one under a lipstick that I liked the color but it didn't last well and it helped a bit, so it depends on what your layering on top they are good if your lips are dry, cracked or have alot of lines as they help to smoothe the surface

    I like to put lip balm underneath my lip stick, but then again if you get a really good lipstick you don't need anything underneath.

    It really depends on your lip.  I've used lip primers, and I really like Too Faced's lip primer.  It works well for me.  But I always have cracked, dry lips.  No matter what.  Even in the summer.  So for me, lip primers make a big difference. If you have the same problem that I do, then maybe look at lip primers.  Otherwise...just get a really good lipstick, but keep it with you.  Chances are, even the best lipsticks with really good wear are going to need to be reapplied at some point.

    I'm a teacher, so I'm talking all day (with no time to reapply) & had problems with my lipstick/gloss fading.  I got some lip primer from Too Faced, I think, and it works beautifully.  The color doesn't hang on forever, of course, but it's truer for a longer time with the primer underneath.
