Eek DJ prices

We went to visit a highly recommended DJ- our friends and their family have used them multiple times.

THe package they priced out was:

Cocktail hour
4 hr reception
uplighting around the room
plasma tv screen for our montages (my fi really wants photos and stuff from when we were younger up to now played before we come out)

$2300

That seems REAL reasonable for what we are getting but being on a tight budget I cringe at dropping $2300 on a DJ.

WWYD?

It's a special package and taking things like the tv and uplighting out don't change the price enough...

What DJ are you using at how much? Trying to look around a bit more too.

    We are using Danny C he has gotten some awesome reviews on here.  We are paying $1600 for ceremony music, cocktail hour and 4 hour reception.

    We didn't want any bells and whistles or tvs so we pretty much got the most basic package possible.

    That seems expensive... We booked the basic package with Elite Entertainment.  With a discount for booking less than 6 months before the wedding, we are just over $1k.

    We used lifetime entertainment  (http://www.weddingwire.com/reviews/lifetime-entertainment-union/0b24914ca6965548.html).  I think they came in around 1200.  we got a discount because they were a prefered vendor of our venue, and we did not need additional lighting/video, but felt they were reasonable, easy to work with and our dancefloor was PACKED all night.

    We're using Premium Entertainment in Butler, NJ. We do not need cocktail hour music but it would be included anyway.  We have a DJ and MC...no uplighting right now but might add on for an additional $500.  We're paying 1399.

    I tried to get in touch with Danny C but he never returned my call or email so I moved on. 

    I would think with the stuff you're asking for that 2300 is probably normal and customary.

    Thanks, the uplighting and tv screen is just added extras that we would like to have...if its not going to fit our budget then out the window it goes :)

    $1290 from Fantasy Productions DJs:
    DJ and MC
    4 effect light show
    4 hours reception
    1 hour cocktail hour - subbed instead of 150 party favors

    Bob is amazing and has done 4 other weddings in our group of friends.

    Were using Danny Kay from Premier Entertainment and paying $1800 for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception music.  Nothing else fancy. 

    I don't think your price is that unrealistic for the extras you are getting.  But, if they aren't must haves for you then you can certainly find just a basic package at a cheaper price.

    I am at 2300 as well - we have a bunch of extras with the basic package (ceremony + reception) including a piano player for the cocktail hour, some uplighting, TV's, and a photobooth.  We are using 1-800 Jam Music and I will say they were a pleasure to deal with so far.

    Unless it's including some live performers, anything north of $2k seems pretty high to me.

    My family has been using VenueAudio. They were pretty knew and my sister was on a tight budget so she picked them and they were great.
    I did all the book so thats the only reason I know plus I just booked them for my wedding in November.

    Ceremony, Cocktail, and Reception music.
    DJ/Emcee who actually sings at the wedding if you ask him ahead of time. Great singer! He will be singing at mine.
    2 Plasma TV's
    Full room up-lighting and dance floor light and a GoBo for no cost.
