Bezlu and any other St. Mark's UMC brides/guests

It turns out a church ceremony is now an absolute requirement. I can't really find any photos of the interior except in bezlu's bio but I can't really get a feel for the entire layout and look. Anyone else have photos or experience there they're willing to share? Also, if youve gone to a wedding there or got married there, what did you think about the distance to the reception? Just wondering if it's too far on the edge of the French quarter for a 2nd line. And if it is how do I get guests to the reception? Just leave them to walk to it at their own pace? Get a bus? Won't that be expensive for just a dozen or so blocks? Up here limos charge minimum 3 hour charges!!

  • I believe Bez did her second line from there. You could hire pedi cabs or a carriage for those who can't make the walk.

Queen Jane is right-- we did the 2nd line after the ceremony from the church to the Bourbon Orleans.  I was concerned it might be too long for older guests and ordered a carriage that could hold 8.  In the end though, everyone was so eager to participate and we moved pretty slow, so only my Dad and Husband's aunt, needed help and they shared a single pedi cab.  Worked out fine.

It was about 9 blocks to the Bourbon Orleans .  I think you'd be fine with Any venue in the French Quarter.  When you go for venue visits, you should definitely, walk from the church on your own and check it out first-hand.

I tried to PM you the link  to my church photos but I'm not sure it went through to you.  If not, you can email me at bezlu@yahoo.com.  The church is simple but pretty.  There's a lot of mahogany throughout, and bronze lanterns hanging from the ceiling, and a large beautiful organ behind the altar.  We used minimal decorations and it was quite pretty I think.  Also, because of the color of the windows, the light that comes in is warm and golden.

    Hope that helps!
  • Good idea about checking out the walk before-hand.  Maybe I'll try it in heels... lol.

I emailed you bez.  Sorry about the 1001 questions but I can't wait to get your reply!
