dress shoping help

Its that time, i have put it off as much as possible.  I am going dress shoping this weekend.  I don't know whether to be scared or psyched.  I was thinking of making an apointment at Marry and Tux, i live in that area.  Any loves or hates about them?  any other recomendations?

I really liked Marry & Tux.  I thought their customer service was great when I had an appointment there.  I ended up getting my dress at Modern Bride because they carried the dress I wanted and Marry & tux didn't.  Modern Bride doesn't give you a dedicated consultant so you're more on your own.  It all depends on what you want.  I would recommend checking out both.

    David's Bridal
    Mary & Tux
    Modern Bride
    Country Bridal

And Alfred Angelo has their grand opening in Danvers, MA this weekend as well.
Around that same area would be David's and Bella Sera Bridal.  I think there are a few more in that town but I cant think of them off the top of my head.

I liked Marry & Tux, but felt really pressured to buy when I was in there, and I simply was not ready. I was turned off so much by the pressure, I ended up calling around to see if I could order it from anyone else. I ended up getting my dress for almost $200 less by ordering from Alfred Angelo directly. My biggest suggestion is to not buy anything that day. Call around, see if you can get it cheaper from someone else. remember to have fun! =)

I really disliked Modern Bride.  I went there with my mom looking for MOB dresses and the sales staff were SO rude!  I didn't want a consultant and just wanted to look with my mom.  I was looking at BM dresses by the changing rooms and a consultant without hesitation put a bridal gown on the rack right in front of where I was looking.  They just acted really rude and only wanted to make big sales.

I got my dress at Madeleine's Daughter and loved the experience.  My consultant was so nice and patient.  I've also heard wonderful things about Marry and Tux.

I got my dress and my BM dresses at Marry and Tux.  They were great! Stephanie was my consultant and she was amazing! Highly recommend!

I loved Marry & Tux also. I had Kelly for a consultant and she picked my dress for me! Something I would have never tried on. I went alone, during the week and it was a great experience. After I found the dress I brought my mom back to see it.

I loved Modern Bride because I didn't want a consultant hanging all over us pressuring us to buy and they didn't do that.  I did get pressured at Marry and Tux which made me kind of avoid them when it came to ordering.

I ordered my dress from Marry and Tux.  I really liked my consultant there, Katie.  She could totally 'read' my vision, even when I wasn't really ably to describe it well.  I didn't feel pressured to buy there, but I definitely think that's a factor of the consultant.  I looked at Modern Bride and David's (where my BM dresses are from) too, and liked my experience at those places as well.  Good luck!

For what it's worth, here's my recap:

Loved Modern Bride and they had a consultant with us on each of the three times we went---maybe because it was during the slow season??  Compared the same dress at two bridal shops, (MB & 125 Bridal in Plaistow), and MB was significantly less expensive for the same gown.  We have had wonderful experiences with them so far---dress is on order, but has not yet arrived, (est. April).

Not so great experience with Country Bridal--limited assistance from staff and dress selection was not that good.

    125 Bridal--"overpriced and pushy"

Marry and Tux, "okay--above average".  Will go back there to look for BM dresses, (along with Modern Bride).

David's Bridal, "Just say No"....you can do better for similar $$ elsewhere.  Quality of the dresses was not good.

Madeline's Daughter, "overpriced" and sales consultants were not knowledgable.

I had an absolutely aweful experience at David's Bridal in Nashua. The consultant did not listen to anything I had to say. I would describe a dress and she would bring me the polar opposite.
A friend convinced me to go to David's Bridal in Danvers. My consultants name was Alla and I could not have been happier. She was attentive, and thoughtful.  You could tell she loved her job. We ended up being there for hours. I ordered my dress and my WP dresses from them.
I even recieved a voicemail from Alla a few days ago. She was checking in with me to make sure I had everything I needed and to wish me and my girls a happy new year!
