I Found My Dress!!!!!!!!
Well, one way to soothe the annulment woes was to do the one thing I could without a firm date...my Matron of Honor and I went wedding dress shopping!
I guess I should mention that I'm 48 years old (my FI is 52) so I was a little anxious about how I would look. I have been looking online and in the brides magazines for a few months. I had found one online that I fell in love with, but no one had an actual one that I could try on. So we thought we'd go try some on, seek advice about the style, and order it...though I was really anxious about ordering something I hadn't tried on!
I think I tried on about 20 or so dresses, and had about four maybes that we then narrowed down to two. One was by the same designer as the one I liked, and it looked very nice...it had a very slimming bodice (I'm not fat, not thin, pretty average) and a tulle, sort of ballerina-y skirt. The second one was by a designer I had not heard of yet, but there was something about it. It's ivory, sweetheart neckline, sparkles but not gaudy, gathered skirt. So I tried them both on again, and I liked the first one, but still hesitated...then I put the second one on and I began to cry. But I said okay, let's go look for my MOH's dress, then I'll go back and try them on again to be sure...but I really knew. And when the...what do you call her? She was more than a saleslady, she was like a consultant, she was so wonderful...anyway, her name was Karen so let's call her that! Anyway, she brought out a veil and a headpiece and my MOH and I both just were tearing up. And I knew...that was MY DRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had the best time, and we found a great dress for her too. I decided my groom is not going to see me in this dress until I'm walking down the aisle toward him, so I'm not posting pictures or telling anyone the style (not that he'd look if I told him not to, he's very honorable that way), but I'm just so thrilled!
