Alphabetical Seating Chart question

For my seating chart I have there name forms I will be using depending on the person/group:
Does this look ok if I do it this way..??

Example:
M
Marvin, James
Manning Family
Merson, Mr. & Mrs.

Also - how would I go about listing someone - who is attending as a family, but two of them have their girlfriends with them. Can I like the family together, and the girlfriends and individuals???

Re: Alphabetical Seating Chart question

  • This is just me, but I would list each guest individually.

  • i think "Manning Family" is confusing, especially if you have more than one manning family.

is yoru heart set on a chart rather than table cards?

Ummm, yea kinda, since I already have the chalkboard I am using.

What is I don'thave multiple families with the same last name?

  • I would also list each guest individually.  It prevents a lot of confusion - the example you gave has people listed three different ways so people might not be absolutely sure where to go or if you were refering to them.

Are you using chalk to write on the chalkboard?  This will make your display a little fragile - if bumped it could smear the writing, same thing if the board gets wet.  If you are using chalk, I'd think about switching to something that will stand up to people crowding around the board and pointing at names - something like a paint pen or permanent ink.

  • When referring to an entire family, and don't want to list individually, what about:

Manning, Jim, Jane, John, & Suzy

I have been kicking around the idea of a seating chart instead of cards.  I have several married cousins with the same last name, and would probably do something like this:

    Smith, Jack and Jill
    Smith, John and Jane
    Smith, Pat and Mary

    Just a thought...

I am trying chalk first to see how it comes out. I have read that hairspray can help prevent the smudging

<div>Also, with regards to girlfriends / boyfriends or Plus 1s, I would probably do this:</div><div>
    </div><div>Smith, John and guest</div><div>
</div><div>Since John is the original invite, I would think they would obviously search for his name.</div><div>
    </div><div>Hope that helps!</div>
  • I did an alphabetic seating chart and I listed out each person’s name, even if they have the same last name. Each person was named.
  • for the boyfriends/girlfriends, you could do as a PP suggested:

    Smith, John and Guest

or if you have her name, you could do:

    S
    Smith, John

    J
    Jones, Jane

    or

    S
    Smith, John and Jane Jones
