Advice for a London Honeymoon

We are about to book our honeymoon to London through Priceline. Any suggestions? Our hotel is about a mile from the Tower of London. A good thing or a bad thing? Thanks!

• If you are into Museums I would check out the British Museum. They have the Rosetta stone there are parts of the Parthenon which I thought was pretty neat to see.
• A day trip to the Cotswolds and Windsor Castle is nice too.

• I would say thats not too bad. I think its more of a commercial area though. Maybe a mile out isn't, but right to the north and east is a lot of tallish office buildings. None of the charm you get from staying in a different part. But it will be a good starting point for you to have a day trip. You can walk down the Thames and hit quite a few places. Tower of London, Tower Bridge, City Hall, St Paul, Tate Modern, etc. I would worry more about trying to be close to a tube stop because then you can just hop on that and go where you want with a little less walking.
• Also, I highly recommend this hotel - We got a great deal there during my last trip and it was a very nice historic building right beside hyde park. Everyone who worked there was very helpful as well! Clarion Collection Shaftesbury Hyde Park Hotel 1 Inverness Terrace , London, EN, GB, W2 3LB Phone: (44) 20 7229 1444 Fax: (44) 20 7745 1221
• Yeah, a mile can be a huge deal if you're not near the tube! We usually stay in a self-catering apartment in St. Katherine's Docks (right beside Tower bridge) and it's a fabulous location.I'd also recommend the British Museum (I want to live in there), taking a day trip out to Hampton Court. And, if you haven't checked them out, the company London Walks does some great walking tours around the city. They do ghost tours as well as a Jack the Ripper Tour as well as the usual touristy stuff (and pub tours!).I also want to throw out that a great place for lunch is under St. Martin's-in-the-Field at Trafalgar Square. The Café Crypt is located under the church (in the crypt) - they make good soup, sandwiches, quiche and creme brulee and all proceeds go to help the homeless. And you get to eat in a crypt, which is really neat.
• Some other places to check out: Greenwich (you might not be too far from there via tube or boat) is a nice little town to walk around; Windsor Castle half-day trip; Westminster Abbey; if you are a history buff, don't miss the Cabinet War Rooms (basically set up exactyl as they were during WWII and they have a great audio guide tour); National Portrait Gallery; Changing of the Guard (very touristy, but fun and St. James park is nearby and a good escape from the hustle and bustle). I also highly recommend London Walks--I did a pub tour and a day trip to Richmond and Hampton Court Palace with them and both were great. HTH
• a mile in which direction? which part is your hotel in?

• Hmm...since there is public transportation, it wont be all that bad. We used the tube quite a bit.

• Oh, and things to do: As pp mentioned--London Walks. We did the Battle of Britain tour and it was amazing. Check out musicals and plays. We saw Grease in the West End for half price (TKTS) and saw Pygmalian (My Fair Lady) in Southwark--it was one of the highlights of the trip and we bought the tickets the day of on a whim.Ride the double decker buses--we saw a lot of sights quickly that wayWalk along the River Thames at night--Parliament and the rest of the sights are lit of beautifully.Drop $20 on an ice-cream sundae at Harrods. It. Was. Amazing. Both my sister and I couldn't finish it, and it was well worth the 12 pounds.PIP Below:
