Why can't your name be on it? And why waiting a year to be approved?

<div>Have you tried another bank or credit union? One of my friends had a similar issue (because she is self-incorporated, and all the money is in the "company" name, even though it's a company of 1). She eventually had to go through Bank of America because they were the only ones that would approve her and her FI, even though they had more than enough income, good credit, and cash for the down payment. </div><div>
</div><div>I haven't slept in two days because FI has bronchitis and has been keeping me up all night. Boo.</div>

Ditto to this.  Unless there's missing information you didn't say I'm really confused by what the heck the lender is doing.

Because I don't have 3 lines of credit.. I only have 2. We went to someone else and they said we would be able to work something out within 90 days of getting a 3rd line so I'm confused why the first lender told me I wouldn't be able to do anything for 12 months.

I was also told I could be added to my parents or FI's credit card and I would accumulate their credit for however long they've had the card and I don't have to use it or pay anything towards it. How is it allowed for me to piggyback on someone else's credit just to get it? This bank stuff confuses me!

  • That's odd ncd but I would definitely do what you're doing and just ask other lenders.  I get their reasoning behind wanting more lines of credit but it seems like there has to be an easier way then to just wait 12 months, I though it was only a few (like the new place told you).  Good luck with everything and I hope it all works out sooner rather then later!

Thanks - that's what we're trying to do! It's just frustrating that I can have income, money in the bank and bring down payment but can't be considered!

Yeah it's frustrating.  I took a first-time homebuyers class a few months ago and the stuff I learned kind of blew my mind away.  They look at so much before approving you now from debt to income ratio, how much credit history do you have, etc.

So smart to take that class! I would have definitely gone!

  • My vent is that I want my full time job offer! We have a house that we really like (I posted about it last week sometime), we've been pre-approved and are ready to make an offer, but we're not comfortable doing it until I know for sure I have a job (well, I know I do, I just don't have it in writing yet). It took our new parent company forever to assign us an HR rep, and now the paperwork seems to be dragging out, probably because it's the holidays. I'm also kind of bummed because I'm likely going to miss out on holiday pay on Monday. I've been working part time at co-op pay (less than half of what my full time pay would be) for just about a month now, and I've lost a lot of money that we could be saving for our down payment. I don't know whether asking my boss for a signing bonus to somewhat cover that would be out of line or not :/

  • My vent - the neighbors keep their dogs outside all the time. Well, one of their dogs started barking around 4 this morning and did not shut up till it was time to get up. Can you not hear that your dog is barking right outside your window. I mean it was non stop barking at nothing inparticular. How hard is it for them to get up and take care of the dog.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Thursday Thread - The Usual! : At least your high isn't 70 degrees today!!! What the heck weather! That's my other vent. I want it to be COLD for Christmas. I'm not even asking for snow, but could we at least have a high no warmer than the 50s? Is that too much to ask?!

It was 75 degrees here today! Crazy!

  • I don't understand my grandma.  She asked if I paid for my dress completely yet (which I did) and she was questioning that.  This was after she asked if the wedding was still on.  I don't get it, I love my grandma and she usually gets me and things but lately she's been questioning everything wedding related when I talk to her.

Aw, Megan that has to be frustrating. I'm sure it's out of character for her which only makes it harder.

Yep.  Between her and some other members of my family being so rude and annoying with it all it really makes me not want to invite them.  I still will and everything, but I think a lot of them are questioning it because of the guy I dated before Chris.  The guy was in the military, knew what he wanted to do, and had his future planned and could "take care of me" without any questions because his plans.  He also had a lot of things in common with my dad and family.  My FI though, knows what he wants to do and everything but doesn't click as well with my family.  Honestly, I don't either so it's not an issue for me.  I think it's just hard for my family to accept someone after they loved that guy even though Chris treats me so much better.

  • That's rough. They need to realize that their preference for your ex is not as important as yours for FI. Good luck. :)
