Rude, or not?

I have a question that is purely out of curiousity... Is it rude to ask to bring more than 1 guest with you to a wedding?

Re: Rude, or not?

  • It's rude to ask to bring any guest that isn't invited.  So yes, more than one would be very rude.

  • Definitely.  Why would you want more than one guest?
  • Alright, so I lied and this wasn't JUST out of curiosity... I have had 2 separate people, who don't know each other, ask me if they can bring more than 1 guest. Both requested if they could bring "guests." To both, I very nicely said "No, that will be hard on my budget." I thought it was pretty rude but I just wanted to make sure.
  • I had a +1 +1.  As in, invited guest asked to bring a guest, who asked to bring a guest.  RUDE.

  • It's rude to ask to bring anything more than what is named on the invitation. However, if you invited a family and only invited 1 out of their 3 children, I could see why there'd be questions.

  • The only way I can see this being even remotely OK is if the original invitees guest had a child that you were unaware of.

  • Wow. Yeah... that's a lot more rude than my situation. I'm gonna just count my blessings that both people took it well!
  • Alright, so I lied and this wasn't JUST out of curiosity..Kinda figured.  Hypothetical don't really exist on the knot. ;-)

  • Wading, for both of these people, they are independent, so it's not a family thing. And as far as I know, no kids. And I'm pretty sure on that one.
  • In that case, how odd.  I couldn't imagine calling up my friend and saying "Hey, can I bring my friend Joe?  And his girlfriend Jane?"

  • Yes I must know how this happened. Did they seriously call you and ASK to bring more than one person??I can't fathom anyone ever doing that...
