1 or 2 photographers?

Did you or are are you booking 1 or 2 shooters when you book your photographer?  I would like 2 but obviously that is usually more expensive.  I'm just trying to figure out if it is worth it to get the two.  (Photographer is the most important vendor to me). MG's did you think the 2 shooters were worth it?  If you only had 1 did you wish you had the 2 ? Thanks :)

We're having two photographers. One will be with each of us as we are getting ready and then I figured that they would be able to get different shots/angles at the ceremony and reception.

We had 2 shooters and I'm glad we did.  While Erica was with us, the second shooter was at the cocktail party.  Also, one shot me and the other shot my hubby as I was walking down the aisle--need 2 for that. Lisa Beth

i had 2 photographers and an assistant who also shot.  if you can swing the extra $ i highly recommend it.  some of my favorite shots were ones those other guys captured while they were hiding in some bush or around the bend or at a different angle.  i specifically wanted someone who did detail/commercial work (alex) for those artsy close up shots to work with my main photog.  the assistant didn't take many that were "best-ofs" but he was great to have around and did take quite a few cute ones.  think about walking down the aisle -- you want someone in front of the church, and someone following you.  there is a ton more depth when you have more than one shooter, not to mention a lot more pics to pick from.  we had about 2000 shots, i took home 1250 or so.

Thanks :)  Yea I def. think I want 2 shooters ! The photog and an assistant would be just fine for me.  Makes sense to get all the moments like me walking down the isle and him watching me, etc.

you can get plenty of pics with just one, dont get me wrong.  does your assistant shoot at all?  thats a way to get a few more candid shots as well.  i literally had shooters up in trees and down in the river taking pictures while we followed our lead photog. so i just thought it was really great LOL... but it's not mandatory and you'll be fine with just one, esp. if you have lots of good photog. guests!

Had 1 and looking back I wish there was an assistant. Just more opportunity to capture different pictures / angles. Splurge and pay for the assistant/second shooter.

Ya... and I don't think she takes an assistant with her.  But all the pics I have seen from her are so amazing- I think i'll be happy, but its these little details that I worry about!

We had 2.  I can give you the whole 2 photographer spiel if you want it...  Not all assistants actually shoot.  Some just carry equipment, etc.  So that's a question to ask.  But hiring a 2 photographer team or adding on a 2nd photographer would be my suggestion.  I'm biased.  :)

I preferred two from the getgo, but FI thought one was plenty. We booked with someone who will stay with us all day, but brings a second shooter for the ceremony, formals and the first bit of the reception. Like Lisa Beth said, I really want the shot of me walking down the aisle and FI waiting at the front for me, so that's primarily why I wanted two.

get two!I only had one real one (Millie) and was scrambling the week before the wedding to add a second one and she couldn't. My dad did hire a friend to come for a few hours and he got a lot of good shots of family members during cocktail hour and stuff while Millie was off being artsy. An extra photog is never THAT much more money and IMO SOOOOoooo worth it! Think about the different angles during the ceremony!

I have two for getting ready, ceremony, and formals.  One at the reception.  My photog talked me out of the 2nd for the whole day b/c he said reception pics can get repetitive and it's a way to save without skimping.

we are debating this, but for $500, we might just do it, we are getting a good deal so far, so I think we can manage it

At first we only had one but we added a second later on. Best decision ever. Some of my favorite pictures came from the second shooter and he got some amazing reaction shots. go for two.

I'm so happy we had two.  We have pictures of both of us getting ready and hanging out (separately) at the church waiting for the ceremony to begin.  We were able to get a lot of the group portraits done ahead of time (him with his family and groomsmen, me with my family and bridesmaids) without seeing each other, so we got more time at cocktail hour.  And I love that we have pictures of the same event from two angles. If you can afford it, I think it is a no-brainer.

Hi - I am having 2 photographers at my wedding.  My photographer includes 2 with all of his packages no matter what price you pay.  I think its nice to have the second photographer taking those "real" moments that aren't normally caught - ie:  both your expressions walking down the aisle.  Dad's tear in his eye as you say your vows ... stuff like that.

I think it also depends on how many people you are having.  If it's over 150 then I think you should automatically consider 2 as it will be very difficult for 1 to get all of the shots.  We ended up doing 1 and someone he was training/assistant.  His shots are great, he had done 20 previous weddings already, and was much cheaper.
