1 or more photographers??

I am researching wedding photographers, some shoot the day solo and some have an assistant. Does anyone have any opinions on having 1 vs 2 photographers to shoot the day?? Is there alot of extra value in having 1 photographer and as assistant? Thanks!

    There are a few pluses!! If you book with a photographer who has an assistant, you can often have them split up and get "getting ready" pics of the girls and the guys. Also, having different photographers means different vantage points when shooting and can make for some cool shots. One photographer may miss something important, but you have a back up to catch it!

    Be careful of getting a wedding photographer and an assistant. My sister hired an expensive photographer for her wedding down in Scarborough, NY and the assistant ended up taking ALL the pictures. The photographer was there for maybe an hour when she paid for 8!! You may want to opt for 2 photographers instead of a photographer and an assistant. I am working with Applebox Photographers out of Wilton and am going to go with 2 photographers. THe price difference isnt that much and I just feel better about it than if I got an assistant.

    I'm having 2 photographers. I want pictures of the guys getting ready and having the 2nd shooter there with them. I also like how there is a second set of eyes capturing different things throughout the wedding.Make sure they are willing to split up (some don't)

    I thought the assistant was able to capture a lot of great shots / angles that the main photographer couldn't.

    We have 2 photographers.  The second shooter is a professional, not an assistant.  Like others said, I like the idea of pictures of the guys getting ready and pictures of the girls.

    I actually just recently was married...and my photographer had a second photographer, and it was so worth it!! As she mentioned to me...she can't be everywhere at once, and that second photographer can really capture area's where she can't be. She might be capturing our exchanging our rings, and he was shooting our parents expression during this moment. I would totally recommend two photographers. You are welcome to look at my pics...she was awesome!! So much fun and full of fun ideas!!!
